    Because the ultra orthodox have 10 or more children. Remove them from the equation and it’s not much different from most other countries. And these large families are a drain on the Israeli economy. The women are full-time mothers and the men don’t work or serve in the army. Everyone else has to pay for them.

    you are wrong. Orthodox Jews are only 10% of the population. They do hve 7 kids per family on average, however most Israeli women have 3 children per family, much higher numbe than in most developed countries where women have 1.7 children on average
