Citing Trump win, feds move to put immigration suit on ice
In one of the Justice Department’s first moves triggered by Donald Trump’s win in the presidential race, lawyers for the federal government are joining in a request to put on hold a lawsuit that blocked some of President Barack Obama’s key executive actions on immigration. Justice Department attorneys and lawyers from 26 states who challenged Obama’s moves filed a joint motion Friday asking that remaining proceedings in the suit be put on hold until the Trump administration figures out how it wants to proceed. “Given the change in Administration, the parties jointly submit that a brief stay of any further litigation in this Court before beginning any further proceedings would serve judicial efficiency …

Though not mentioned, waiting for a new Supreme Court appointee to be installed is very good for Trump’s agenda. And the new justice will be busy right from the get-go, as the Democrats are liable to sue at every turn.
