Majority Opinion (6 Justices)Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg wrote the opinion of the Court, joined by:

  • Chief Justice John Roberts
  • Justice Anthony Kennedy
  • Justice Stephen Breyer
  • Justice Sonia Sotomayor
  • Justice Elena Kagan

This formed the core 6-justice majority that fully supported the reasoning.
