Most of the tariffs are paid by the manufacturers and importers, not consumers. When Trump assessed 10% tariff on Chinese products in the first term, the prices did not go up. Tariffs were paid by the manufacturers and importers. Additionally, it is an amazing tool to bring jobs back to the United States. There are no tariffs on domestic products. We import 4 trillion worth of goods. Just with the basic 10%, it is 400 billion per year going to the US treasury
