GOP has a chance of adding 7 or possibly 8 senate seats. in 2024
Next year is a great map for GOP, particularly in the senate. 7 Democrat senators from the states that Trump carried in 2016 are up for reelection. Trump is currently leading Biden by 4%, might help flip 7 senate seats in 2024. Additionally, Trump came very close to flipping Nevada and last year former Attorney General Adam Laxault came very close to flipping the senate seat in Nevada, while former Clark county sheriff, Republican Joe Lombardo, became the governor of Nevada giving the GOP an opportunity to add the Nevada senate seat. The states that currently have Democrat senators that are due for the reelection and were carried by Trump in 2016 are: Arizona, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Penncylvania, Montana and West Virginia. With Nevada on the edge, GOP can get 8 more seats and go from 49 to 57 senate seats.
Class I terms run from the beginning of the 116th Congress on January 3, 2019, to the end of the 118th Congress on January 3, 2025. Senators in Class I were elected to office in the November 2018 general election, unless they took their seat through appointment or special election.
