Chinese enterpreneurs bought a lot of Italian companies in Northern Italy and replaced tens of thousands of Italian workers with Chines workers. They returned to Italy in January after celebrating Chinese New Year at home.Many recommended to quarantene these people for 2 weeks due to the epidemic in China. Many recommended to at least quarantine the school children. Prime Minister of Italy refused to do it, claiming it was “populist fearmongering” this is similar to what Biden said, calling it hysterical and racist. Such a lack of early, timely quarantine of these workers, their children, as well as others flying from China in the midst of epidemic in China, caused raging epidemic in Italy.
“But already in January, some officials on the right were urging Conte, their former ally and now political enemy, to quarantine schoolchildren in the northern regions who were returning from holidays in China, a measure aimed at protecting schools. Many of those children were from Chinese immigrant families.
Many liberals criticized the proposal as populist fearmongering.
