on Friday, March 20, 2026 (or the most recent relevant Friday based on reporting), the Trump administration (via the Department of Homeland Security/ICE and Department of Justice) filed a motion in federal court in Maryland seeking to dissolve a preliminary injunction that currently blocks the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia (also spelled Kilmar Armando Ábrego García or Kilmar Ábrego García) to Liberia.
President Donald Trump said that while Democrat lawmakers want to make a deal to fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), he feels there should be no deal made “until they approve” the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act.
The complaints against Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA)—often referred to as “Nannygate“—were filed on February 16, 2026, by filmmaker and activist Joel Gilbert. They accused Swalwell of:
Employing an undocumented foreign national nanny for approximately two years after her work authorization expired (potentially violating immigration laws under 8 U.S.C. § 1324a, as well as related tax and labor rules).
Reimbursing himself from campaign funds for childcare expenses (including payments to the nanny), totaling over $300,000 from 2021–2025 (with ~$57,000 in 2025 alone, per filings cited in the complaint), allegedly constituting personal use of campaign funds prohibited under FEC rules (52 U.S.C. § 30114(b) and 11 C.F.R. § 113.1(g)).
These were submitted to:
Federal Election Commission (FEC): For the campaign finance misuse allegation.
Department of Homeland Security / ICE (DHS/ICE): For the unauthorized worker employment allegation.
Current Status (as of late March 2026)Both complaints remain under review/investigation with no public resolution, dismissal, finding of violation, fines, or other enforcement action announced.
FEC side: Gilbert stated the FEC confirmed receipt and that it would follow the standard process—assignment to an attorney for investigation, potentially taking several months before any ruling or public disclosure. No new MUR (Matter Under Review) number specific to this 2026 complaint appears in FEC records yet (prior unrelated or partially related childcare complaints against Swalwell, like MUR 7947 from 2021, were largely dismissed or found no reason to believe violations occurred on most points, including some childcare reimbursements, as they aligned with FEC advisory opinions allowing campaign-tied childcare).
DHS/ICE side: No updates from DHS or ICE on investigation progress or outcomes. Such complaints rarely result in quick public action unless they lead to charges, audits, or referrals (which aren’t reported here).
President Donald Trump stated Friday that the United States is closing in on its objectives in Iran and that his administration is considering winding down the war.
Recreational and tourist sites worldwide will now be a target for Iran’s aggression and what remains of the Islamic state’s leadership further added Friday it is still building missiles.
Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) reacted to Google’s artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot accusing him of “hate speech” in a test ran by Breitbart News’s Wynton Hall, saying that the tech company “should answer for this now.”
Pushed for Wiping Out Nuclear, Missile Capabilities
Joe Kent’s resignation from his national security post over opposition to military action against Iran follows earlier public statements in which he warned about threats posed by the country and supported striking its ballistic missile and nuclear capabilities.
