Glenn Beck: The Letter
June 17, 2009 – 10:36 ET
|
GLENN: I got a letter from a woman in Arizona . She writes an open letter to our nation’s leadership: I’m a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the issues important to me. There must be someone. Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me that you are there and that you’re willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please stand up now. You might ask yourself what my views and issues are that I would horribly feel so disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut job am I? Will you please tell me?
Well, these are briefly my views and issues for which I seek representation:
One, illegal immigration. I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence and the trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty, not again. Been there, done that, no resolution. P.S., I’m not a racist. This isn’t to be confused with legal immigration.
|
|
Two, the TARP bill, I want it repealed and I want no further funding supplied to it. We told you no, but you did it anyway. I want the remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze, repeal.
Three: Czars, I want the circumvention of our checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the czars. No more czars. Government officials answer to the process, not to the president. Stop trampling on our Constitution and honor it.
Four, cap and trade. The debate on global warming is not over. There is more to say.
Five, universal healthcare. I will not be rushed into another expensive decision. Don’t you dare try to pass this in the middle of the night and then go on break. Slow down!
Six, growing government control. I want states rights and sovereignty fully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. Shrink it down. Mind your own business. You have enough to take care of with your real obligations. Why don’t you start there.
Seven, ACORN. I do not want ACORN and its affiliates in charge of our 2010 census. I want them investigated. I also do not want mandatory escrow fees contributed to them every time on every real estate deal that closes. Stop the funding to ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audits and investigations. I do not trust them with taking the census over with our taxpayer money. I don’t trust them with our taxpayer money. Face up to the allegations against them and get it resolved before taxpayers get any more involved with them. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, hello. Stop protecting your political buddies. You work for us, the people. Investigate.
Eight, redistribution of wealth. No, no, no. I work for my money. It is mine. I have always worked for people with more money than I have because they gave me jobs. That is the only redistribution of wealth that I will support. I never got a job from a poor person. Why do you want me to hate my employers? Why ‑‑ what do you have against shareholders making a profit?
Nine, charitable contributions. Although I never got a job from a poor person, I have helped many in need. Charity belongs in our local communities, where we know our needs best and can use our local talent and our local resources. Butt out, please. We want to do it ourselves.
Ten, corporate bailouts. Knock it off. Sink or swim like the rest of us. If there are hard times ahead, we’ll be better off just getting into it and letting the strong survive. Quick and painful. Have you ever ripped off a Band‑Aid? We will pull together. Great things happen in America under great hardship. Give us the chance to innovate. We cannot disappoint you more than you have disappointed us.
Eleven, transparency and accountability. How about it? No, really, how about it? Let’s have it. Let’s say we give the buzzwords a rest and have some straight honest talk. Please try ‑‑ please stop manipulating and trying to appease me with clever wording. I am not the idiot you obviously take me for. Stop sneaking around and meeting in back rooms making deals with your friends. It will only be a prelude to your criminal investigation. Stop hiding things from me.
Twelve, unprecedented quick spending. Stop it now.
Take a breath. Listen to the people. Let’s just slow down and get some input from some nonpoliticians on the subject. Stop making everything an emergency. Stop speed reading our bills into law. I am not an activist. I am not a community organizer. Nor am I a terrorist, a militant or a violent person. I am a parent and a grandparent. I work. I’m busy. I’m busy. I am busy, and I am tired. I thought we elected competent people to take care of the business of government so that we could work, raise our families, pay our bills, have a little recreation, complain about taxes, endure our hardships, pursue our personal goals, cut our lawn, wash our cars on the weekends and be responsible contributing members of society and teach our children to be the same all while living in the home of the free and land of the brave.
I entrusted you with upholding the Constitution. I believed in the checks and balances to keep from getting far off course. What happened? You are very far off course. Do you really think I find humor in the hiring of a speed reader to unintelligently ramble all through a bill that you signed into law without knowing what it contained? I do not. It is a mockery of the responsibility I have entrusted to you. It is a slap in the face. I am not laughing at your arrogance. Why is it that I feel as if you would not trust me to make a single decision about my own life and how I would live it but you should expect that I should trust you with the debt that you have laid on all of us and our children. We did not want the TARP bill. We said no. We would repeal it if we could. I am sure that we still cannot. There is such urgency and recklessness in all of the recent spending.
From my perspective, it seems that all of you have gone insane. I also know that I am far from alone in these feelings. Do you honestly feel that your current pursuits have merit to patriotic Americans? We want it to stop. We want to put the brakes on everything that is being rushed by us and forced upon us. We want our voice back. You have forced us to put our lives on hold to straighten out the mess that you are making. We will have to give up our vacations, our time spent with our children, any relaxation time we may have had and money we cannot afford to spend on you to bring our concerns to Washington . Our president often knows all the right buzzword is unsustainable. Well, no kidding. How many tens of thousands of dollars did the focus group cost to come up with that word? We don’t want your overpriced words. Stop treating us like we’re morons.
We want all of you to stop focusing on your reelection and do the job we want done, not the job you want done or the job your party wants done. You work for us and at this rate I guarantee you not for long because we are coming. We will be heard and we will be represented. You think we’re so busy with our lives that we will never come for you? We are the formerly silent majority, all of us who quietly work , pay taxes, obey the law, vote, save money, keep our noses to the grindstone and we are now looking up at you. You have awakened us, the patriotic spirit so strong and so powerful that it had been sleeping too long. You have pushed us too far. Our numbers are great. They may surprise you. For every one of us who will be there, there will be hundreds more that could not come. Unlike you, we have their trust. We will represent them honestly, rest assured. They will be at the polls on voting day to usher you out of office. We have cancelled vacations. We will use our last few dollars saved. We will find the representation among us and a grassroots campaign will flourish. We didn’t ask for this fight. But the gloves are coming off. We do not come in violence, but we are angry. You will represent us or you will be replaced with someone who will. There are candidates among us when hewill rise like a Phoenix from the ashes that you have made of our constitution.
Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian. Understand this. We don’t care. Political parties are meaningless to us. Patriotic Americans are willing to do right by us and our Constitution and that is all that matters to us now. We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more. It is not your power. It is ours and we want it back. We entrusted you with it and you abused it. You are dishonorable. You are dishonest. As Americans we are ashamed of you. You have brought shame to us. If you are not representing the wants and needs of your constituency loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party, you will be fired. Did you hear? We no longer care about your political parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them. Because we will get you fired and they will not save you. If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please stand up. Make your identity known. You need to make some noise about it. Speak up. I need to know who you are. If you do not speak up, you will be herded out with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole damn congress if need be one by one. We are coming. Are we coming for you? Who do you represent? What do you represent? Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming.

This is exactly how I feel, and it makes me cry. We have an awful lot of work to do besides getting “Kenya Boy” out of the White House. This letter needs to be published nationwide and worldwide. I want my country back. We The People are defintely coming!!!!!!
June 17th, 2009 @ 10:02 pm
This letter could have just as easily come from me. It is a carbon copy of what is in my heart and soul. I have a feeling thousands of Americans feel the same way. I have been trying for several hours to sign the petition on glennbeck.com and the servers have been overwhelmed. Orly, you have a chance to take the lawsuit so far and you know you have so many folks that support you and would help you. I sure wish I lived closer and had some sort of law background. I live in fear for my children and sorrow for my country on a daily basis. This fraudulent, treasonous person in “our house” needs to go.
June 17th, 2009 @ 10:29 pm
Absolutely “Spot on” This is exactly my sentiments and I salute whomever wrote it,much more eloquent than I could have written.
Thank you !

I just went to the Glenn Beck website link that someone posted. The server has been overwhelmed and the petition is temporarily shut down. I wanted to leave a comment but I didn’t see a place to do so.

Dear Author, We Love You! Thank you, your voice is our voice and we are coming!
June 17th, 2009 @ 11:13 pm
Amen! Stand up grandma. You’ve got my vote. This administration is so addicted to power I’m thinking we should start a new “intervention” party.
We could round them all up and put them in a mandatory Americorps camp with intensive training in the U.S. Constitution and what an oath of office means, what loyalty and respect for this country and the people is about. Teach them some baseline economics so they actually know how to balance a budget and live within their means…..and that they need to live within the law, not above it. It’s a service organization so maybe they could actually learn to serve the people who pay their ridiculous salaries.

Excellent.
June 18th, 2009 @ 12:26 am
BRAVO……..exactly how I and hundreds of thousands of our patriotic citizens feel
June 18th, 2009 @ 12:34 am
WOW!
This needs to be posted everywhere.

I see something above about Glen Beck’s book.
It will be a cold day in hell before I buy any more books by so-called conservatives who fail to address the eligibility issue. I am sick and tired of their hypocrisy on this issue.
If Glen Beck wasn’t so worried about chasing the almighty dollar along with the likes of Levin, Linbaugh, Hannity, Ingraham and Savage, common sense would tell him that the best way to save this country and follow the Constitution would be to expose the bastard in the White House.
Until these talk show hosts stop being puppets of Fox etc., I would suggest we boycott their radio and TV stations. Find out who their sponsors are and tell them straight, why you refuse to listen or watch.
I called Ingraham’s show this morning not intending to get on but to just badger the screener. When I asked why she wasn’t talking about the eligibility issue…he retorted there is no issue. IS NO ISSUE!!!! HOW INSULTING!!!!!When I asked him why Obama was spending approx a million dollars to hide the birth certificate…he just hung up. I don’t like the rudeness and I don’t like being treated like I am the ignorant one. Quite frankly, they don’t deserve our respect…so why listen or watch. There programs are so self-serving. Stop bitching about Obama unless you are prepared to expose him to the world! In a way conservative talk programs are worse because of the blatant hypocrisy they exhibit on this issue!
June 18th, 2009 @ 1:36 am
I heard Glenn read this on his show this afternoon and (for once!) I was shouting “Yes! Yes! ” instead of my usual “Oh no! Oh cr-p!”. Then I went to his (free) e-mail and read it. This woman, this Grandma, has captured the essence of the total disenfranchisement which every true American (regardless of political affiliation) feels every day upon opening the daily newspaper or news website. This is the underlying philosophy of the “TEA parties” – – too much, too soon, too bad, toodle-oo! And we are left in the dust to pick ourselves up and try to figure out how we will pay for all of it. I know this lady has no interest in running for public office, but man oh man, if we could find a candidate who would say (and BELIEVE) these things he would be a shoo-in (Republican Party take note – – here’s your platform for 2010-2012).
June 18th, 2009 @ 2:03 am
I appreciate this very much. Yes it is time for those people who feel this way to look for a new politician; however one whom you are looking for may not be dressed in the same clothing as you are used to.
While I am ‘Taking A Stand’ I invite all who hear my voice or are willing to take a look because I have been running, I have been fighting, I have been Taking A Stand… and I am proud of what I have done. I have run for U.S. Congress, I have run for U.S. Senate, and I have run for President.
Yes… I am here… but are you listening? Are you willing to listen? You have not voted for me… You have not supported me even though I said I would do exactly what is in this letter. Go to my web site, rally your friends, support with dollars, read my book.
I am walking the walk.. and not just talking the talk. I have dedicated my life, my fortunes, and my time… but I may not be clothed in the clothes you thought… still my hand is outstretched and I am committed to defending Freedom, Liberty, and our pursuit of happiness.
Defending our U.S. Constitution.. yes I believe in it and am the only Presidential Candidate who actually took John McCain to task for the Constitution qualification and Barrack Obama in the qualification issue. I took issue with both R’s and D’s because I knew they no longer held the higher ground with our Constitution. I have supported Orly Taitz in her representation of Keyes have worked hard to do what I could to write and push, and pull for our U.S. Constitution and I believe firmly that if we do not take a stand right now, there won’t be much left of it. I believe it is hanging by a thread.
Where can you go to see what I am saying is true? Please visit me at http://www.codyjudy.us , you can grab my book from Amazon.com, Yahoo.com, Target.com, Barnes & Noble and find out that out of the ashes I am rising and I am here for you…. but I may not be clothed in the political suit you have been voting for, but then again you have said you were coming to kick those guys out, did you mean it?
Are you going to vote for a Presidential candidate who would not have anything to do with taking a stand against Obama on his citizenship and qualification for President? Aren’t you going to say.. “Where were you Romney? Where were you Palin? Where were you McCain? Where were you Bobby? What Senator, or Congressmen, or Governor has been fighting for the Constitution on the qualification issue, which just happens to be the most powerful position in the free world, and as you can see can move and shake the U.S. Economy to the ground if he has a mind to. Now please tell me if your man or women has any courage, any honor, any backbone.. why have they not stepped forward on this issue of qualification of Obama and McCain? Next question.. why would you support someone who didn’t? Next question.. do I have your support yet?
If I don’t… then may I suggest you are not ready for the kind of politician you say you wanted, and you are a lip service complaining moron completely deserving of the treatment your representatives are giving you. You must put your vote where your mouth is… because it is not that hard to find me if you start with which Presidential Candidates have stood up for the Constitution on the qualification issue of both candidates. If you have a Presidential candidate willing to stand up on that issue don’t you think it more likely he/she would stand up for the rest of the U.S. Constitution? If he/she won’t stand up for this issue, don’t you think it more likely that he/she wouldn’t stand up for other issues of Constitutional importance? That seems pretty elementary to me and it ought to be something Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and all the other conservative champions could get their head around.. because it’s elementary.
2nd Corinthians Ch 3: vs.12 “Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainess of speech:”
Your Brother in Freedom and Liberty
Sincerely,

[…] Dr. Orly Taitz has a letter written by one of Glenn Beck’s viewers/listeners posted. This amazing letter is from an ordinary American citizen, a mom, a grand mom, a Democrat. Janet Contreras lays it out plainly and with passion. I tried to sign the letter but the link provided on Dr. Orly’s site took me to a petition site where a page stated that its server was overwhelmed, check back latter. I will do that and I hope you will. Zach Jones June 17th, 2009 4:04 PM Eastern […]

I really doubt this was written by a ‘grandmother’ in Arizona. When nearly 53% of the American voting populace is still concerned about BO’s eligibility (see WND recent scientific poll) there is not one mention of this here.
Why is there only mention of the TARP bill slammed at us by Bush and his cronies, but no mention of the more outrageous Stimulus Bill and the country busting $3.5 trillion budget by BO and his crooks or the Hate Crimes Bill or even the ‘Fairness Document’?
Which all combined here are what really are bothering most Americans.
This appears real suspicious to me…….

yesterday, when i first heard the author of “the letter” on glenn beck, i went to his website, read “the letter” and signed the petition (at that point there were several thousand signers). i assume others did what i did, started posting it on websites & forwarding it in emails. [time restrictions prevented me from getting it out everywhere.]
after reading these emails, i’ve been to glenn beck’s website, the petition website (https://www.thepetitionsite.com/8/an-open-letter-to-our-nations-leadership), and the link provided by chuckles above (https://www.thepetitionsite.com/4/open-letter-to-our-nations-leadership). glenn beck’s website now has the following msg posted below the petition link: “The petition site is currently having issues with the large amounts of traffic this issue has generated. If you encounter a problem attempting to access the petition please try again later. ”
since beck’s website didn’t provide any other links for the petition, i suspect the link from chuckles might not be a valid link (too bad, since there are at least 160 signatures there now–that might not going nowhere). it could still be a valid link (i think anyone can initiate/create a petition there), just not one supported by glenn beck, and won’t be combined with and forwarded along w/ the original petition.
since this is such an important letter, and it voices all of our opinions (or, at least most of ours here), don’t give up hope w/ the server being down. save the link in your “favorites”, and keep checking back to it.
(and pass this information on so that potential petition signers won’t give up).
June 18th, 2009 @ 2:11 pm
To: “YeahRight”,
I heard Glenn interview this woman the morning before he read the letter. She WAS a lifelong Democrat until the outcome of this election.
Anyway, a word of warning for the author, Janet Contrereas……Janet Napolitano will be coming for you soon, to be sure!
The author, Janet, has no idea what kind of Obots will be coming after her. Although she wanted her thoughts known, I don’t think she has any idea how complicated her life is about to become.
She’s a gutsy lady, no doubt.

I find it very strange that the petition organization wants to direct you to other petitions. Not that, that in and of itself is strange, but, the subjects of those other petitions are all extremely “left” slanted including the oppportunity to help “president” Obama fight republican attacks. Couldn’t Fox or Glen Beck find an unbiased petition organization? HMMMM seems very strange.

I have posted some reports and a few analysis on George Soro’s defraud: Obama, the Buraco Abana (Hole-Wipe), or Macaco Banana (Monkey Banana).
Here in Brasil people were almost so bombed with obama-obama-obama repetition that they believed that a poor little boy was elected. None is a poor little boy or girl when has a world of satanists (masons) willing to establish the system of satan, the world communism, the new world disorder.
The problem is that the police and the military officers are prostitutes, they live like communists waiting for orders to do and their wages, and the day of their retirement. Otherwise the people would be protected to exterminate the whole anarchists of hell that want to do with America what they have done in Brazil, Venezuela, Bolivia, and so forward.
THE PROBLEM OF OURS IS THAT WE BELIEVED IN CROOKS THAT CONVINCED US THAT “DEMOCRACY IS THE SHARE OF OUR BELONGINGS AND THE COMMAND OF LAW WITH THE BANDITRY”. The leftists are revolutionaries, if they want revolutions, they want anarchy, and this all is the OPPOSITE to the NATURAL ORDER OF THINGS PLACED BY GOD!
If one American kills an pig capimmunist abortist that generates 2/3 the income to the leftist parties, that one will be sentenced to death for killing one that has managed the killing of over 49 million little humans that were sleeping.
Just because they took the power and the police and the armies hit continence to them, is that all the meaning of good conduct, behavior?
We are saying yes sir to satanists and dissimulating that we love God, and yet spit against the name of Maria.
INVESTIGATE THE APPARITION OF VIRGIN MARIA IN FATIMA PORTUGAL, AND YOU WILL DISCOVER THE ORIGIN OF COMMUNISM: THE ORIGIN OF COMMUNISM IS SATANISM.
“NEVER SPREAD THE LIES FROM RUSSIA”. THE LIES ARE: REVOLUTION!!!!
“INVESTIGATE THE SUN DANCE IN THE RIGHT DATE STATED BY MARIA, A MIRACLE FROM GOD THAT SHE ADVISED TO THREE CHILDREN OF PORTUGAL”.
WE WILL NEVER PLEASE GOD IF WE STAY MAKING GOSSIPS ABOUT MARIA.
The world is being like a hell of human demons because we dissimulate that love God, but spread and imitate revolutionary command words.
Ultra very sincerely,

Yeah Right.
I assure you Mrs. Contreras and her letter are very real.
June 18th, 2009 @ 9:04 pm
yeah right,
the letter WAS written by a 53 yr old grandmother, and she was on glenn beck’s show tonight. she looks just like a regular person…
now as far as your comment that since 53% of the voting populace is still concerned about the eligibility issue, that doesn’t necessarily mean that that is in the forefront of everyone’s minds (particularly someone who’s been a democrat her entire life, until after the primaries last year). the letter is too spot on to be a fake; and although there are probably a lot of pumas among us, i’m not sure this woman was. she sounds like she just got disillusioned w/ her party (and now is scared spitless). i can relate to her, except that my transition was a lot slower, over the course of many years (i’ve been a dem/ind/rep & now i’m just adrift).
for anyone who’s concerned about the petition website being down, it appears to be back up again. it went down late yesterday afternoon. earlier i was able to get back on & see the last post from yesterday, & it appeared to be around 4:23 p.m, w/ about 19,213 (or so) signatures. now, it is up to 58,905. not too shabby.
keep spreading the word.

You both seem to have missed is the realization that this non-partisan letter is addressed not only to President Obama but to ALL those responsible to ‘We the People’!
It matters not who wrote this letter, what matters is that it speaks for a great many US citizens. Puts on notice those that have turned a death ear and blind eye to Constitutional abuse. If there is but ONE who represents ‘We the People’ let him stand and be counted. I for one will not be holding my breath.

To all those who defend this scum bucket ‘glen beck’ and this supposed ‘life long democrat grandmother’…..I too am a grandparent but have something that most of you don’t seem to have — an analytical mind (of which she only seems to have some and only if she did this herself).
I saw through this scum bucket 7 years ago while living in Hawaii when he decided to label all indigenous Hawaiian’s TERRORISTS!!! Simply because they were trying to protect a sacred beach on Maui.
I also saw through this scum bucket when many times he only talks about money and his desire for it and nothing else and then slams the working poor on his weekly ‘lets find an idiot’ phone call.
I also saw through this scum bucket when he decided to label all Ron Paul supports crazy, morons, and TERRORISTS!!!
This scum bucket labeled anyone a TERRORIST at any chance he got before DHS secretary Napolotano if they disagreed with him or had an original thought.
Now this scum bucket labels all of us concerned about BO/BS’s eligibility as crazy, moron’s, and border line TERRORISTS!!!!
And you all still listen or view him…..? Mmmmm, guess in your mind I too am crazy, moronic and a TERRORIST!
Please go take your blindness someplace else….we here are seekers of truth and this scum bucket glen beck is far from that!
