@realDonaldTrump @SecScottBessent Why, even though US is the biggest producer of oil in the world, with 13.5 million barrels per day of production, an export of 5.5 million BPD, and zero reliance on the Persian Gulf, the gas prices in US are double of what they are in Saudi Arabia, where gas is only $2 per gallon? Is there a gouging of prices in US by the oil companies? DOJ and the Department of Treasury should announce a joint antitrust investigation. I believe, after such announcement the oil prices will go down

Mostly it’s the wrong kind of oil. But also because prices are calculated by the spot market price.

Oil companies are huge donors. Trump won’t have them investigated.

Well, if it would be one market price, why is it $2 in Saudi Arabia, $4 in US and $8 in Europe. It has to do with supply and demand

It’s their own oil, processed their and no shipping expenses. And far less tax.

I believe that the oil companies need to be investigated. Wrong oil? Explain. The fact is that it doesn’t make any sense that we have taken the portion of the market that Iran had and we are exporting more oil than ever. Why should we, as top producers and exporters in the world, have to pay more at the pump than other countries? Why can’t the oil companies pass some of their profits down to our pockets? I know they are filling their coffers to the brim right know with the situation in Iran. I’m not buying the supply and demand angle. I know Americans love to burn cheap oil! It’s getting worse for states like Arizona and Nevada who have to depend, of all, Kalifornia for much of our transportation fuel.

It has to be refined and America is short of refining capacity. Saudi Arabia is not and it doesn’t tax its own production.
