Newsome promised to appoint a black woman for Feinstein’s seat, he should appoint 85 year old Maxine Waters and let the voters decide in a year

Usually when the governor appoints someone for a position, this person easily gets re-elected, as he is already known as a senator. This is unfair to others who are running for the position. Newsom should have stated that he will appoint the most qualified person, regardless of gender or race. However, since he already promised a black woman, he should appoint the 85 year old Maxine Waters as a place holder for one year and let the voters decide next year who they really want.

    So, here we go again. He’s going to appoint someone because the color of their skin and not because they can do the job for their constituents?
