    First, the WH cannot “ask” for anything, as it is inanimate. So the author should grow some and state that Joe asked for their release. Joe ASKED. He didn’t demand, he asked. Perfect example of this “WH”.

    At KBB, I understand and agree with your point. But “Joe asked for their release”, really means how much do you want? Therefore, Joe can’t demand anything.
