PETITION FOR A WORLD WIDE MORATORIUM ON GAIN OF FUNCTION RESEARCH ON DEADLY VIRUSES WHICH ALLOWS THE ANIMAL VIRUSES TO BECOME VIRULENT AND LETHAL TO HUMANS

Honorable Boris Johnson,

This letter is being sent to the Secretary General of UN and world leaders.

As you well know, the mankind, all nations around the world, went through a terrible pandemic of Covid -19. 160 million people around the world were sick and over 4 million have died.

We do not know for sure the origin of this epidemic, however it is more likely than not that this epidemic came from the Institute of Virology in Wuhan, China where Gain of Function experiments were conducted on Corona viruses. This research involves the investigators creating hybrids, chimeras, using animal viruses and adding to them genetic sequences which would allow those viruses to get attached to human cells and become deadly to humans.

While some suggest that this epidemic started spontaneously in nature, such hypothesis is highly unlikely, as this type of Coronavirus is usually seen in specific bats in caves, and there are no such bats for over a 1000 kilometers from the city of Wuhan where this epidemic started. Further, recent reports, among them in Wall Street Journal, indicate that three researches in Wuhan virology lab were aforementioned experiments were conducted, were sick with Covid –like symptoms in November of 2019, a month before the first case of Covid was officially reported.

Even if you believe the theory of spontaneous natural origin of this epidemic, and it is unbelievable, it does not exclude the possibility of this pandemic starting in the lab.

What is of even greater concern, is that there are viruses with much higher mortality and experiments on then can wipe out the whole mankind of the face of this planet. As an example, the mortality rate of Covid is about 1%, and it led to 4 million deaths already. However, the mortality rate of Ebola is 75%. A Gain of Function  experiments on a virus like Ebola can lead to annihilation of ¾ of the population of the planet. Out of 8 billion people, 6 billion will perish.

We cannot allow these experiments to continue. As such, I petition you, Mr. Johnson to promote a UN world-wide moratorium on Gain of Function research which modifies animal viruses to become virulent and lethal to humans.
