African American Pastors Group Celebrates Israel-UAE Peace Agreement

CAAP praises President Trump for helping promote Middle East peace
Fulshear, TX — Aug. 14, 2020 — Today, the Coalition of African American Pastors (CAAP) celebrated the signing of a historic peace agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This is the first such agreement between Israel and a major Arab country since 1994 and includes the exchange of embassies and ambassadors, cooperation across multiple fields (like education, trade, security,and healthcare) as well as direct access between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv for Muslims who wish to visit the Al Aqsa Mosque.

“This is an outstanding achievement,” stated Rev. William Owens, Founder and President of CAAP. “IN my book, A Dream Derailed, I discussed the importance of a safe and secure Israel. For years, we have prayed for peace in the Middle East. Now, we are one step closer to achieving that goal.”

“The new peace agreement will help promote understanding and pave the way for a more prosperous and peaceful Middle East. Not only does it strengthen the ties between Israel and the UAE, but it also promotes religious tolerance and frustrates the false narrative of radical Islamists, who falsely claim that Israel is limiting access to the Al Aqsa Mosque,” continued Rev. Owens.

Rev. Owens concluded: “President Trump deserves to be commended for his work in brokering this historic deal. To make real inroads in the establishment of a lasting Middle East peace is an impressive demonstration of leadership and negotiation. We pray that we will continue to see progress in finding a real, fair, and comprehensive peace agreement in the region.”
