New York Republican Donald Trump is leading in the latest primary poll of potential Republican presidential candidates.
Mr. Trump, a potential candidate, leads a new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll. Mr. Trump ties former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee.
According to the poll, Mr. Trump and Mr. Huckabee both garner 19 percent support among likely GOP voters. Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin comes in second, with 12 percent, while former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich are tied at third, with 11 percent support each.
The poll comes in the wake of a number of polls finding support for Mr. Trump. The New York Republican performed well in a recent New Hampshire poll, coming in second place behind Mr. Romney. Mr. Trump lead in an earlier Harris Poll late last month.
The poll is bad news for Mr. Romney. The former Massachusetts governor dropped six percentage points from an earlier CNN poll. Mr. Romney recently announced his intention to form a presidential exploratory committee, which will allow him to begin fundraising for a presidential campaign.
All this comes as Mr. Trump continues to build support for a likely campaign. The real estate mogul spoke on his religion in an interview with the Christin Broadcasting Network earlier this week and is reportedly sending close sides to meet with key Republicans in Iowa.
