The reason this story will never gain traction is that Republicans signed off on this program.

    *sigh*

Very good question but let’s not mislead the public like the media does. An assult weapon is a fully automatic weapon. Something the Military uses. Not the average citizen.
The media would like America to believe that anything with a folding stock or a clip larger then 10 rounds is an assult weapon. That is simply not true.

Frank is very misleading. Under Bush there was a similar program but, the Mexican government was involved all the way and no weapons made it into the wrong hands. The Obama administration, on the other hand went on the sneak so they could place blame on American gun owners and dealers. As a former firearms dealer and manufacturer, I find what this administration did as nothing more than totally illegal and absolutely appalling. Eric holder should be turned over to Mexican law enforcement to stand trial for his war crimes.

An assault weapon is any weapon used to assault any one. This termed was conjured by the politicians to scare people. I retired with over 20 yrs in the U.S.Army and never heard the termed used on any weapon, we had semi-auto, rifles and pistols, full auto machine guns, sniper rifles, sub-machine guns, etc.. I can use a paper as an assault weapon.
