At a time when the economy is in the gutter and many Americans are either curtailing or cancelling vacations, you would think the first family would be sensitive to their plight.

Not so.

From the Daily Mail:

The Obamas’ summer break in Martha’s Vineyard has already been branded a PR disaster after the couple arrived four hours apart on separate government jets.

But according to new reports, this is the least of their extravagances.

White House sources today claimed that the First Lady has spent $10million of U.S. taxpayers’ money on vacations alone in the past year.

Branding her ‘disgusting’ and ‘a vacation junkie’, they say the 47-year-old mother-of-two has been indulging in five-star hotels, where she splashes out on expensive massages and alcohol.

The ‘top source’ told the National Enquirer: ‘It’s disgusting. Michelle is taking advantage of her privileged position while the most hardworking Americans can barely afford a week or two off work.

‘When it’s all added up, she’s spent more than $10million in taxpayers’ money on her vacations.’

The First Lady is believed to have taken 42 days of holiday in the past year, including a $375,000 break in Spain and a four-day ski trip to Vail, Colorado, where she spent $2,000 a night on a suite at the Sebastian hotel.

And the first family’s nine-day stay in Martha’s Vineyard is also proving costly, with rental of the Blue Heron Farm property alone costing an estimated $50,000 a week.

The source continued: ‘Michelle also enjoys drinking expensive booze during her trips. She favours martinis with top-shelf vodka and has a taste for rich sparking wines.

‘The vacations are totally Michelle’s idea. She’s like a junkie. She can’t schedule enough getaways, and she lives from one to the next – all the while sticking it to hardworking Americans.’

Is anyone else outraged?

This is typical of the liberals and their sense of entitlement.  You would think the Obama’s might show a little more concern because not only is it their policies that have put America in this bind, but an election is coming up.

As Congress scrounges for money to cut from the budget, I have a suggestion.  The first cut should be the Obama’s travel budget.

    yep they are having this great party at taxpayer expense… and they will continue until CONGRESS PUTS A STOP TO IT… they do have the power.. and the credit cards.. TAKE THEM AWAY AND TAKE THE KEYS FOR THE JETS..

    Just what is it that the National Enquirer reports here do you believe is not true? This is just the tip of the iceberg. There is plenty more that these disgusting, elitist fleecers do to the taxpayers, you should be outraged about, that wasn’t even mentioned in the article.

    Why are these “sources” unnamed? Does Judson have any hard evidence such as leaked travel vouchers to show the amount of money and who paid for these travels? It is easy to make allegations; much harder to prove tham.

    Orly, blaming everything on the Obamas, from your morning coffee being cold to everything that has happened in the last 100 years, and ranting against his wife and children and mother in law, just makes you look like your problem with him is political not constitutional. Don’t fall into that trpap.

    I THINK CONGRESS SHOULD PASS A LAWL WE PAY THE PRESIDENT ENOUGH MONEY WHY CANT HE PAY FOR HIS OWN VACATION LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. AMERICANS ARE GETTING TIRED OF PRESIDENTS USING OR HARD EARNED MONEY FOR THEM TO WASTE ON WHO KNOWS WHAT. I DO NOT BEGRUGE THEM A VACATION THEY CAN PAY FOR IT. IT IS CALLED ENTITLEMENTS.
