International Criminal Bar

Colegio de Abogados Penal Internacional

19th of July 2011

U R G E N T

Dear members,

The International Criminal Bar (ICB-BPI) was created on 15th of June 2002 at the Conference of Montréal, to bring together the international legal community, including the individual members, bar associations, counsel´s associations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) within the field of the international law, from all continents and legal systems.

The ICB set itself the goal of acting in concert with its individual and collective members in order to represent the legal profession on three levels:

  1. To create a strong and independent bar association and promote a truly independent legal profession before the ICC.
  2. To develop criminal policy, promoting the fundamental principles of justice so that the law has a fair and equitable process.
  3. To assist and provide means to the counsels of the victims and accused before the ICC.

The International Criminal Bar, through its close cooperation with the bodies of the ICC, intends to assist counsels, to guide and support them in their commitment to international criminal justice, thus playing the traditional role of national bar associations, of which one of the essential vocations is to guarantee everyone, whether victims or accused, the best access to quality legal representation. At the same time, the ICB is trying to ensure the promotion and defense of the interests of its members.

The ICB is pleased to announce new Online Activities in our website: forum discussion, training courses and live seminars coming soon.

However, it is essential your close cooperation to achieve our aims. We are writing to encourage you to renew your membership in the ICB. Otherwise, unless you answer to this request before 15st of July, we will have no choice but to give off as members of our organization.

I hope you are well and hope your efforts in supporting the ICB are successful.

Individual membership dues are 100€ whereas collective membership dues are 1500€ if the membership is over 1500 members, and 750€ if the membership is less than 1500 members.  This is the information required for electronic transfers.
