Amid the floral floats, spirited marching bands, and high stepping equestrian units at next year’s Tournament of Roses Parade, a gay couple is set to marry,
On New Year’s Day, with tens of millions watching, the two grooms – Aubrey Loots, 42, and Danny Leclair, 45, of Los Angeles, will profess their love on a giant wedding cake shaped float – a first in the parade’s 125 year history.
“No sense of doing it small,” said Danny Leclair on the phone from his office in Los Angeles.
A play on the parade’s 2014 theme “Dreams Come True,” and sponsored by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, the float will celebrate same sex marriage and the role it can play in helping to reduce new HIV infections among gay men.
The Supreme Court’s decision earlier this year to strike down parts of the Defense of Marriage Act is what many gay couples like Leclair and Loot have been waiting for.
The two – together for 12 years – celebrated a commitment ceremony five years ago. The two hoped for something more.
The opportunity to get hitched presented itself in October when Leclair attended a same-sex wedding expo and applied for a chance of a lifetime – the chance to marry on top of the 2014 Roses Parade.
Leclair submitted an application and quickly fired off a text to his boyfriend with the picture of two grooms accompanied with the phrase “will you marry me.” Five weeks later the two were selected.
For a couple accustomed to living a spontaneous life, the unorthodox wedding announcement “didn’t surprise a lot of friends,” said Leclair laughing.
Shortly afterwards, the two were peppered with warm thoughts and well wishes from around the world on their Facebook page.
Leclair and Loots will be married by a minister as they pass down Colorado Avenue in Pasadena.
Leclair said he’s unsure what the two will wear, but promised their outfits will incorporate their own personal style.
And to make the ceremony more personal, Leclair said that he will read one of his favorite Nelson Mandela quotes in homage to the South African civil rights leader and his boyfriend who both are from South Africa.
Although California permits same sex marriage, there is no same-sex marriage in 34 states and the rights of gay couples are restricted in many part of the country.
“We are standing up to all that,” said Leclair who hoped the opportunity of tying the knot in front of a worldwide audience of about 80 million will expand the conversation on gay and lesbian rights. ”We are standing up on that cake so that we hope it will expand the conversation.”
Leclair added, “We’re responsible for changing people’s minds. We need to say whom we love without shame.”

I think it is a free country, and if they want to have a gay wedding, they should be allowed to.

(Just like we should have a Dreams Come True float showing Obama going to prison for treason)

OMG! The redacted are out to “out-do-themselves!”

Let’s hope the cameras won’t give them any time, and I’m glad that I won’t be watching that portion of the Rose Parade!

Homosexual activists are the most vicious scoundrels, exploiting every hole and weakness of this sick nation (on par only with moslems). They pick every eye that happens on their way! They keep testing the patience of the people and see no limits, nor any resistance, but they will finally get their bloody bath…

I think the organizers of the parade must refuse these scandalous perverts to contaminate the decent event with the 125 year track record. The public considering to attend the event must swarm the organizers with the letters of disgust. See https://www.resonoelusono.com/SpecterOfSodomOverEurope.htm

is that a joke in regards to the sister? In this day and age you never know, it might become legal by some executive order of Obama

If the organizers will not refuse the display of this abomination contaminating the old good tradition, I guess there are enough decent people in Pasadena to spoil a bit this filthy “wedding”. Throwing rotten eggs into this couple is perhaps illegal, but to accompany them with the shaming posters and with the “appropriate” bullhorn “greeting” are still remain among our constitutional freedoms. Everybody welcome “Fags on cake”. Do your best to MAKE THEIR PUBLIC “WEDDING” VERY MEMORABLE FOR THEM.

Interesting that the counterpoint to that float will be the float of the Lutheran Hour Ministry, whose theme, this year, is

    JESUS WELCOMES ALL!

    Lenny..
    Why the name calling..

I’m sure there are 10% of folks who want to marry their brother or sister.

As a matter, it has happened by accident.

This country refuses to acknowledge sin and rejoices in it.

Bope is just identifying the next trend for going over the blurred lines.

Why does a women marry another woman who look like a man?

Why does a man marry another man who acts like a woman?

Even in their blurred lines they are still trying to achieve God’s order.

It would be against the law for someone to hold a contest just for straight couples, right? So why isn’t it against the law to hold a contest just for gay people to enter?
There are plenty of heterosexual people who would have liked this opportunity as well to marry atop a giant wedding cake during the Rose Parade.

Aside from that, I couldn’t care less what gay people do as long as they aren’t stepping on my rights. My motto is, “Your rights end where mine begin.”

To Denies. I agree with your motto completely: “Your rights end where mine begin.” You made a valid observation: The organizers bend back before the homosexual “wedding”, yet they would not allow the real one (if they really would not allow it). However you are making a wrong assumption as though homosexual and real “wedding” were equal.

Display of homosexual life style is an abomination punished by law just some 50 years ago in any nation of the world. Promotion of homosexuality among kids was punished especially severely, yet now there are 9 laws on CA books which … legalize and require defilement of the kids.

The 98% of this nation do have a right to be not bothered by display of the abomination when they come to a parade. The 98% of us do have a right to not allow defiling of our kids, but our rights are already severely infringed by the homosexual Mafia.

To- PO BE…LOLOL! That’s funny stuff!

Hey, to the tuty-fruity couple: God didn’t make Adam and Bruce! LOLOL!

You people are psychologically unfit for interacting with normal people! All you “girls” had to do was to just keep your (things) in the closet and no one would know the difference!

But NOOOOOOO…you had to FLAME everyone in sight, including children! This shows how perverted your living habits have become! You are possessed and don’t even understand this!

Jesus predicted that just before His return as Judge, there will be a strange, dangerous fad – a spontaneous global steamroller notable for its speed, violence, and impudent in-your-face openness. In Luke 17 He called this worldwide craze the repeat of the “days of Lot” (see Genesis 19). By fulfilling this worldwide mania that’s secretly coordinated by unseen spirit beings, gays are really hurrying up Christ’s return and making the Bible even more believable!
They’ve actually invented strange architecture: closets opening not on to bedrooms but on to Main Streets where kids can see naked men having sex in “Madam” Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco Brothel District. We wonder how soon S.F.’s underground saint – San Andreas – will get a 10-point jolt out of what goes on over his head (see the dire prediction about cities in Revelation 16:19, and Google “Obama Supports Public Depravity”).
What’s really scary is the “reprobate mind” phrase in Romans 1:28. A person can sear his conscience so much that God finally turns him over to S, the universal evil leader whose unseen agents can give a “possessed” person super-human strength that many cops with tasers have trouble subduing!
Remember, gays don’t have to stay bound to their slavery. Their emancipation is found in a 5-letter name starting with J (no, not James or Julia). As soon as they can find out the all-powerful J name, gays will really start living! (Google “God to Same-Sexers: Hurry Up,” “USA – from Puritans to Impure-itans,” and “The Background Obama Can’t Cover Up.”)
Was Jesus silent about gays? Google ” ‘Jesus Never Mentioned Homosexuality.’ When gays have birthdays….”
