Statement by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia, and Emerging Threats

Rohrabacher Statement
on Turkey’s Clash with Russia

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia, and Emerging Threats, on Saturday issued the following statement concerning Turkey’s shooting down of a Russian jet fighter on the Turkey-Syria border:

It is imperative that American decision-makers admit to themselves and begin basing their decisions on the hard fact that Islamic terrorism poses the primary threat to our safety and the peace of the world.

Our president seems incapable of uttering the phrase Islamic terrorism, much less of overseeing a policy that will defeat this evil. His incoherence is ever more evident as events in Syria unfold.

Not radical Islam, but the Russians have been portrayed to us as the villains in this chapter of history. Yet our government demonstrates a lack of will, incompetence, or both, in confronting the most monstrous of the radical Islamic marauders now spilling vast quantities of innocent blood in the Middle East — as well as in Africa and France.

When Russia courageously stepped into the breach we should have been applauding its willingness to confront ISIS. Instead, we continue to denigrate Russians as if they were still the Soviet Union and Putin, not Islamic terrorists, our most vicious enemy.

So now we see the travesty of a harsh condemnation of the Russians for introducing air strikes against terrorists who will murder Americans if they get the chance.

Yes, Russia does this to protect Syria’s authoritarian Assad regime, which has close ties to Moscow. So what?

Assad, like Iraq’s Saddam Hussein, is no threat to the United States or the Western world. If Assad is forced out of power he will eventually be replaced by an Islamic terrorist committed to raining down mayhem on Western countries.

Today we witness the spectacle of American decision- makers, in and out of the Obama administration, joining forces with a Turkish regime that grows more supportive of the radical Islamist movement. There is ample evidence of President Erdogan’s complicity in ISIS’s murderous rampage through Syria and Iraq.

Yet, we hold our public rebukes for the Russians, who are battling those terrorists. A Russian plane on an anti-terrorist mission did violate Turkish airspace, just as Turkish planes have strayed into Greek airspace hundreds of times over the last year. This overflight was no threat to Turkey. Still, it was shot down, as was a Russian helicopter on the way to rescue the downed Russian pilot.

Why do Americans feel compelled to kick Russia in the teeth? Russia’s military is attacking an enemy that would do us harm. Why ignore the hostile pro-terrorist maneuvering of Turkish strongman Erdogan?

President Obama is wrong. American politicians who try to sound tough at Russia’s expense in this case are not watching out for the long-term interests of the United States by undermining those fighting our primary enemy, Islamic terrorists.

Russia should be applauded. Instead, it is being castigated for doing what our government is unwilling to do to confront the terrorist offensive now butchering innocent human beings from Africa, to the Middle East, to the streets of Paris.

If being in NATO means protecting Erdogan in this situation, either he shouldn’t be in NATO or we shouldn’t.

    It would appear to me that we have been harboring a radical, Islamist state: Turkey!

    They have to be sharia in nature! Cause they don’t see just how screwed up they have become!

    This means that we need some nation to step in and help take them out! Russia? Who?

    And we should not allow the liberal/left to make it sound like we need to let all those refugees into America! Too many Trojan Horses!

    And Soros was also trying to work against Putin, when he was supporting others, in the past year.

    We need to have Soros arrested, as well. He’s a damned treasonous character!

    Obama and the democratic senators that prevent his removal from office are the primary threat. Democrats use terrorism as a political tool. They are playing with dynamite.

    Well, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia, and Emerging Threats.

    The real question is Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, when will you introduce the House impeachment legislation bill currently in committee and get on board with impeachment proceedings to remove the problem that we have current residing at our White House. Barry S. is the problem, he IS currently aiding and abetting ISIS.
    Cuts to our upper military that this man has done to our country when it is NOW, the time that we need our military, is just ludicrous.
    Anyone can see that he will do nothing to hurt his comrades in ISIS. The only thing I see that has happened is he has supplied them with weapons, financial support, transportation, guarded against attacks upon them. Now that Russia has stepped in to remedy the problem.

    The American people are fed up with you Rep. Rohrabacher, we’ve had enough of the rhetoric from both sides of the aisle. Grow some balls and Impeach the impostor that has Usurped the Presidency of the United States.

    As you stated, “Our president seems incapable of uttering the phrase Islamic terrorism, much less of overseeing a policy that will defeat this evil. His incoherence is ever more evident as events in Syria unfold”.

    You need to go to Rep. Trent Franks, Rep. Ron DeSantis, Rep. King, Rep. Cohen, Rep. Louie Gohmert, Rep. Nadler, Rep. Jim Jordan, and Rep. Deutch, and ask them what’s going on with the bill on impeachment that they currently are holding up in their sub-committee. We need that bill to clear the committee ASAP, and present it to the floor of the House for a vote.

    Next, we need the impeachment process to start immediately upon removing the President from office. You do this right after you pass the other bill that’s in committee.
    We the American people are pressuring you Dana to do the right thing. And after you have your meeting with them go to the media and tell the public what the committee has done. We put you in Washington, D.C. to serve the people, and the people have had enough of this guy.

    The majority of the American people are backing Putin on his move to remove ISIS, and maybe in the process he can help us with the impostor in chief in the White House.

    Mister Rohrabacher,

    You are a sitting Congressman, you can do something. It is called bring up articles of impeachment. The North American Law Center already has it on a silver platter. Do it! Otherwise, you are paying lip service to a laughing fraud destroying your country and job.

    Failure to impeach soetoro is a violation of your oath of office. Violation of the oath is the same as resigning from the office. Fish or cut bait.

    John and DSP2: It only takes 34 votes in The Senate to aquit an impeachment brought by The House. So once impeached our fate would be in the hands of 34 liberal democratic senators. Obama would love that. Every thing being blamed on the GOP should be blamed on those democratic senators. That also points to the reason why all the liberal media use it both ways because liberals have it both ways by blamng the GOP for what Obama is doing and hope you cow them in to doing something stupid like impeaching him. Acquital would make everything Obama has done the law of the land. What has to happen is for those voting for liberals to start voting for conservatives.

    HOUSE DEM: OBAMA RISKS ‘NUCLEAR WAR’ WITH RUSSIA

    John: [Next, we need the impeachment process to start immediately upon removing the President from office. You do this right after you pass the other bill that’s in committee.]

    What is that other bill that is in the (sub)committee? Does it bring about Mr. Obama removal?

    Do the impeachment articles begin with the issue of Mr. Obama illegality?

    Rich: [It only takes 34 votes in The Senate to acquit an impeachment brought by The House.]

    If John refers to the articles of impeachment where the first article establishes the illegality of Mr. Obama, the illegality would dominate the consideration, and the issues become illegality and removal of Mr. Obama.

    That is impeachment starts in the (sub) Committee, but the first article that the committee considers is the illegality.

    After that to continue the impeachment track is not needed. The next step is removal. Impeachment process is stopped. Removal and imprisonment follow. Replacement of the leadership must follow.

    The impeachment matter is not going to Senate. It is stopped pretty fast in the House after the initiation of impeachment process.

    But… this does not seem what John describes. I do not understand what he means. There may be another process that may work. I’d rather like to know what John has in mind.

    The Bill that I’m referring to that’s in sub-committee is H. Res. 198, is the one Orly put up some time ago, it establishes the standards defining the law. when this is passed, or should I say if this is passed. Then we can proceed with the articles of impeachment from the NALC/CACTN which is in the link below the resolution.

    114th CONGRESS
    1st Session
    H. RES. 198

    To establish standards defining impeachable “high crimes and misdemeanors” within the meaning of Article II, section 4 as applied to the President of the United States.
    IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
    April 13, 2015

    Mr. Yoho submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary
    RESOLUTION

    To establish standards defining impeachable “high crimes and misdemeanors” within the meaning of Article II, section 4 as applied to the President of the United States.

    Whereas Article II, section 4 of the Constitution provides that, “The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors”;

    Whereas Article I, section 2, clause 5 provides that, “The House of Representatives … shall have the sole Power of Impeachment”;

    Whereas the constitutional convention rejected “neglect of duty” or “maladministration” as impeachment standards in favor of “high crimes and misdemeanors” because the former terms were too broad;

    Whereas Alexander Hamilton in Federalist 65 explained that impeachable offenses “proceed from the misconduct of public men, or, in other words, from the abuse or violation of some public trust. They are of a nature which may with peculiar propriety be denominated POLITICAL, as they relate chiefly to injuries done immediately to the society itself”;

    Whereas impeachable “high crimes and misdemeanors” has an objective meaning based on the intent of the Constitution’s framers and British impeachment precedents;

    Whereas the House of Representatives has voted articles of impeachment against two Presidents, one Cabinet officer, one Senator, one Supreme Court Justice, and fourteen (14) Federal judges without providing a general standard for defining an impeachable offense;

    Whereas the law should warn before it strikes;

    Whereas the absence of impeachment standards creates an appearance that impeachment is a partisan exercise, which undermines its legitimacy and deters its use;

    Whereas the impeachment power of the House of Representatives is a cornerstone safeguard against Presidential tyranny; and

    Whereas the past neglect of the House of Representatives to use the impeachment power against Presidential usurpations and lawlessness has concentrated alarming power in the executive branch, crippled liberty, undermined transparency, and encouraged Presidents to further aggrandizements: Now, therefore, be it

    Resolved,

    SECTION 1. Definition of Presidential impeachable offenses.

    The House of Representatives declares the following Presidential actions shall constitute impeachable “high crimes and misdemeanors” within the meaning of Article II, section 4, which will cause the House to vote an article or articles of impeachment to send to the Senate for trial—

    (1) initiating war without express congressional authorization;

    (2) killing American citizens in the United States or abroad who are not then engaged in active hostilities against the United States without due process (unless the killing was necessary to prevent imminent serious physical danger to third parties);

    (3) failing to superintend subordinates guilty of chronic constitutional abuses;

    (4) spending appropriated funds in violation of conditions imposed for expenditure;

    (5) intentionally lying to Congress to obtain an authorization for war;

    (6) failing to take care that the laws be faithfully executed through signing statements or systematic policies of nonenforcement;

    (7) substituting executive agreements for treaties;

    (8) intentionally lying under oath to a Federal judge or grand jury;

    (9) misusing Federal agencies to advance a partisan political agenda;

    (10) refusing to comply with a congressional subpoena for documents or testimony issued for a legitimate legislative purpose; and

    (11) issuing Executive orders or Presidential memoranda that infringe upon or circumvent the constitutional powers of Congress.

    SEC. 2. Effective date.

    This Resolution shall take effect upon passage by the House of Representatives.

    After these articles are read, he/they can be arrested for treason. There would be no need for the impeachment process after he/they arrested.

    Thank you Ashkelon, that is exactly how the card game plays out. The impeachment proceeding will fold the Senate’s hand due to the illegality of “eligibity Ace” in the hole trumping the entire deck of cards (the proceeding). Just get the sergeant at arms to arrest him and cart the fraud off to the JAGS in the Navy Yard, then onto Gitmo for some serious interrogation.

    Yes, we do need someone in the white House to support Russia not hinder what Russia is doing.

    John: Thank you for the text of H. res 198. It sits in the committee on Judiciary, since April 2015, and thanks for Barak Obama articles of impeachment link.

    An important point of your first post says:
    [Next, we need the impeachment process to start immediately upon removing the President from office. You do this right after you pass the other bill that’s in committee.] So:

    1. Pass impeachable offenses bill in the House.
    2. House must make decision on Mr. Obama removal because the list of his articles of impeachment includes at least one of the offenses in the offenses bill (in fact, many, but one is enough). The offenses bill does not include illegality of the person acting as POTUS as an offense. But Mr. Obama illegality clause is the first of his articles of impeachment. So Illegality becomes established too. Decide on prison term for Mr. Obama
    3. Remove Mr. Obama from office based on decision in 2.
    4. Start impeachment immediately at this point. Why? Removal seems to be completed in item 3. Now place Mr. Obama into prison. I think the impeachment has started in item 2.

    John, does it seem to you that I understand your key point? Where am I wrong?

    You are correct in your analogy, you have to read thru the lines and the wording to come to the conclusion, if you’ve done that then you’ve done your homework to understand it.
