Several years ago my son was tasked by the Yale university to travel to Catalonia and write a report on viability of Catalan economy in case of an Independence vote

As many of you, I believe in people’s right to freedom and self determination, however there might be problems ahead for Catalonia and it’s economy. One of my 3 sons graduated from Yale university with a degree in economics. His forte is the geopolitical analysis. So, as a student, he was sent to Spain, to Catalonia, to investigate and write a report about viability of Catalan economy in case of an independence vote. He actually met with the Catalan president and members of parliament and did a very detailed research. His conclusion was that it would be extremely difficult for Catalonia to build a viable economy as an independent nation. My son is a very bright man and I trust his analysis.
So, while as many of you, I support the self determination and independence of nations, there will be a very tough road ahead for Catalonia.

Boy, that sounds like quite the course and to have an assignment such as this.
Did he leave them an assessment to ponder?
Is this unusual to have a city within a nation to want to become their own nation?
Interesting category, Orly.
