Dear Secretary Gant:

A few years back I visited the cemetery at White Rock, S.D. where my Great Grandfather rests.

His name was William F. Grummons and was a 1st Lt. in the Minnesota Volunteers appointed in 1862 by Governor Ramsey.

One of his daughters Alice, was married to Charles John Abbe, and they resided in Mora, Minnesota.  She was my Grandmother on my Father’s side and he was my Grandfather on my Father’s side.  My Father was the late Charles E. Abbe of Sierra Madre, California.  My Father rode his bike from Mora to White Rock as a boy.  The Abbe Family Farm was at Albert Lea and is a hog farm today.

Mr. Gant, these were good, law abiding folks, mostly farmers like you and your family were, mostly children of immigrants from Europe.  My Grandfather made metal feeders for chickens among other things.  He did all sorts of metal work for farmers in the region.  Alice died when my Father was only about 6 years old.  So he was basically raised by his Father.

After I received a Ph.D. degree in physics from UC Riverside in 1966, I was offered and nearly accepted a position at the School of Mines and Technology at Rapid City, S.D.  However, I took a position at the University of Georgia at Athens, GA.

Mr. Gant, many good citizens today have serious misgivings about our Acting President.  Many questions about his background remain a secret.   He could have cleared them up long ago but for some reason known only to him, he has failed to do so.  It is shameful that the Republican Party has been so silent about his qualifications and background evidently due to political correctness.  Secrecy is the enemy of the truth.

I was born at Cleveland, Ohio, in 1939 where my Father had his first job at the American Steel and Wire Co.  He had  graduated from the University of Minnesota in Mechanical Engineering in 1936 and married my Mother Helga in 1937 who had majored in English there and taught high school.  They moved to California in about 1940.  I grew up in Sierra Madre, near Pasadena and graduated from Pasadena High School in 1956.   I then attended Pasadena City College, A.A., 1958, UC Berkeley, A.B., Physics, 1961, California State University at Los Angeles, M.S., Physics, 1962 and UC Riverside, Ph.D. Physics, 1966.   I was a faculty member at UGA from 1966-1978 with lifetime tenure.  I also spent a year at the University of Michigan, Institute of Science and Technology Fellow, Ann Arbor, 1966-1967.  My areas of research were experimental low temperature solid state physics and theoretical elementary particle physics.

Mr. Gant, Attorney Orly Taitz has indicated on her website that for some reason there has been a delay in responding to her request to challenge the placement of Mr. Obama on the ballot in South Dakota.   I urge you to promptly respond to her request.   There is good evidence that Mr. Obama is not even a legal citizen of the U.S., let alone a Natural Born Citizen as demanded by our precious Constitution which so many have fought and died defending, as a condition to be President.

Dr. Taitz and others have been obstructed by lawyers, judges and bureaucrats all over this country in a failed attempt to challenge the apparent lies about Mr. Obama’s background.  I urge you to immediately respond to her and set the hearing date for her claims regardless of your personal feelings or prejudices or political consequences.  A recent hearing here in Georgia was a total, corrupt sham.

Dr. Martin Luther King is quoted:  “Evaluate people on the quality of their character, not the color of their skin”.

Let’s stop indulging the Acting President because of the color of his skin and demand he comply with the same rules the rest of us must each and every day.  Let’s comply with Dr. King’s dictum and throw out political correctness and other selfish motivations.   Too many people have died and suffered for our precious Constitution to demand any less.

My GreatGrandfather was an officer in the Minnesota Volunteers and got the hell beat out of them in Tennessee during the Civil War about a century and a half ago.   If these questions about Obama can’t be answered in a peaceful way, what other way is available to answer them?
