Pope requests throne for NYC mass to be made by migrant day laborers… This is arrogance and disrespect for the US law. This pope should be deported for intentionally violating US immigration laws and hiring illegal immigrant workers. Send him back to Italy, so illegals from Syria or Iraq work for him in Vatican, not here

It’s illegal to entice illegals to work or facilitate their employment so you are correct, Dr. Orly…his advisors include US citizens who could have helped him to avoid that infraction.

Only if the laborers have a green card or a work visa. Otherwise, nada, no trabajo aqui. What’s with Pope Frankie and all this rebeling against laws which protect our civility?

Jesus Christ came into this world for our salvation and redemption. PERIOD!!!

Pope Frankie, take your social justice and shove it.

Boy, this guy oversteps his bounds all the time.

Just cause he’s Pope…does not mean that he can play games with another nation’s rules!

    How Christian/righteous is this???

This is America and our official language is English. He should not be given air time unless he speaks our language.

His duty is to spread the Gospel. Instead he thinks he’s some humanitarian head of some rogue world entity. Who is this guy really? I know one thing Al Gore got him really drunk on Global Warming koolaide. Now he thinks he’s an expert on climatology.

The article did not say that the laborers were illegal immigrants and that the Pope demanded that they will be illegal. While some of his statements are indeed outrageous, he did not transgress in this case.

Well, ok, the article did not explain all this:

    https://www.unitedworkerscongress.org/day-laborers.html

    Orly was correct.

With a Pope like this, the entire Vatican will be replaced by a mosque soon.

    Excuuuuse you Padre Poppe.
Is he running politics and rules in countries’ manufacturing now? I thought he was the head of the catholic church – – boss of the priests and nuns. Now is he boss of the worldly goods in the world too?
Can he really dictate how his big Poppe chair is built? Is there a way to suggest to the Vatican that they ship his favorite chair as part of his Holy Entourage?
I think St Paul and Jesus would be tsk tsk-ing about this demand. Padre Poppe’s halo is slipping!

It’s all about the MONEY, the Vatican will not stop, the pope gets his orders just like Obama does, the Latino population is a major donor to the catholic church.

Where was he when his government was murdering thousands of his fellow citizens in secrecy? Answer, silent. What has he done in respect to all the child molesters he has hiding behind their robes? Nothing! He needs to clean up his house first before lecturing others to clean theirs!

when he said “Day laborers”, he clearly meant illegals. He is for open borders. He acts as a communist party official and a globalist, not as a head of church. O believe that it is time for Catholics to replace this politicians with a true religious leader

Yeah…the Pope thinks he is God’s replacement,

but he forgets that Jesus was the intermediary between God and man…

And the Pope is trying to say, covertly, that he wants Catholicism to become the One World Religion!!

    Fat chance!!!

The Pope did this, I think, to show his emphasis on reaching out to the least in society. He is asking migrant day laborers to be involved in his visit. Not illegals. Migrant day laborers have green cards and help us have food on our tables. They are out in the fields of California picking vegetables on Labor Day, while the rest of us play. The Pope is saying these people matter to him. The chair is of utmost simplicity. He is asking it not be fancy and ornate. He drives a Ford Focus, probably a simpler car than most people who read this site. Yet he is head of a church of billions! What are you complaining about? I doubt any would be as simple as he is, were you in his position. He is kind to the least, and walked the ghettos of Argentina and rode the bus when he was bishop. Odd that you would criticize such a man, who declines all pomp and circumstance. The Pope is the successor to the Chair of Peter, established by Jesus Himself 2000 years ago. The only such position in the world that has lasted for such a period of time, despite all human frailties. The Holy Spirit is guiding the Catholic Church. Read about Pope Francis and you will have a hard time not being changed by his humility.

    Carol,
migrant day laborers are mostly illegals. People who have green cards, have stable jobs

Carol, show me in the Bible where it says anything about any Pope been the successor to the Chair of Peter?

The Bible was approved and assembled by the Catholic Church several hundred years after Christ. Giving “the keys to the kingdom” was what a king would do to his chief officer when he left and would return. It occurs in the old Testament. The popes can be traced back to Peter. Jesus promised His church would not be overcome. “On this rock (Peter means rock), I will build my church.” Peter was given the lead among the apostles, but the leader was the “servant of servants.” He was to keep unity among the apostles. There are 30,000 plus breakaway Christian groups, but there a billion Catholics who respect the Rock that Jesus founded, the position of Peter. The Bible points to Tradition, and St. Paul says to remember what is written and what was taught. The Bible never says it is the only Truth…it is part of the Truth, and the Church who produced the Bible is also the interpreter of the Bible. The Chair of Peter and its authority has been passed down through centuries, as the “keys of the kingdom.” Jesus did not abandon his church to chaos and human decision. He set up a strong structure that has withstood 2000 years of attack. The other centers of Christianity founded by the apostles would turn to the pope in Rome to settle disputes. Read the writings of the Church Fathers and the early letters and you will see the role the Pope in Rome played, as the papacy was developed. It is the Holy Spirit and Jesus who guide the Church, it is not a human institution.

I disagree that most migrant workers are illegals. I am sure there are many, but the ones breaking the law are the owners who are citizens and hire undocumented workers. You cannot assume a migrant worker is illegal. A man is innocent until proven guilty. But any business owner hiring an illegal has broken the law. I think somebody who is working, legal or illegal, is a desirable person to have. Many of our “citizens” refuse to work and enjoy welfare. I admire the “migrant workers” who stand on the street corners of California waiting for a truck to come take them to work in the field. They are working, trying to provide for their families. I am sure some are illegal. I have had friends who are illegal from Canada and Chile. They worked. They are more desirable to me than the people who are able to work, are legal citizens, but have figure out how to get benefits and not work. The term “migrant laborer” makes me think they are working! They are not on welfare. They are probably working very hard jobs. I remember seeing them one Labor Day bent over the fields in California, as I drove past, as everybody drove past on holiday….as they worked. I do not think we can equate illegal immigrant and migrant worker. I say…if you are illegal, yet you want to work…I will do what I can to make you legal! We need you!
