    The IMF can hardly ignore China when it has the world’s largest population and largest economy. What excuse could they give for refusing to include the yuan in SDRs while they accept yen and pounds? But if the IMF does refuse, China will just increase its efforts to develop the AIIB to challenge the IMF. India and Russia will both side with China as part of their common Asia-centric strategy. China has an estimated 15,000 tonnes of gold to back their currency with if necessary. They also have enough foreign exchange reserves (>$4 trillion) to raise the price from 1200/oz to 7200/oz by using those reserves to buy gold until hits 7200/oz, the minimum level required to return to a gold standard.
