Several points.

Due to the 21st Amendment states have a lot of authority over alcohol that does not reach other goods.

Also, if a state or country for that matter adds a tax or waiting period that is actually just a cover for a de facto tariff, the WTO will rule against you. This has happened before.

You need to be careful here though. Steel is much cheaper when you import it, so if we start going back to only US steel, or steel with heavy tariffs (due to retaliation against your suggested tariffs) expect prices on US goods with steel to skyrocket

Response from Orly;

1. this is the reason, why for the last 2 years I was beating the drums of war and pushing to repeal GATT/WTO. If we can repeal Obamacare, we can also repeal WTO. the only people, who benefited from it, wer a handful of globalist billionaires. It created an economic devastation for America and Americans

2. when you look at the cost of the products, you need to add the cost of unemployment benefits, food stamps, cost of lost revenues from lost taxation and so on. when you add it all up, you will see, that we as a nation carry enormous burden and it trickles down to all of us. that is what many don’t understand.

I visited Pittsburgh, once the steel making Mecca of the world, the cradle for Carnegie dynasty and Carnegie philanthropy, which is seen visiting the sprawling grounds of the Carnegie-Mellon university. Today Pittsburgh is a depressed area, economic wasteland.

Let’s go to the example of carcinogens in cheap junk imported from China. Did anyone calculate the economic burden of  millions and millions of health care dollars spent to treat numerous forms of cancer, caused by using those products, by children playing with those toys dripping with lead??? (figuratively speaking)

Did anyone calculate the emotional and psychological devastation of  families, where the bread winner loses his job and the family is losing its’ home?

Why so many American men are up in arms? Because they are losing their pride and dignity, when they are losing their jobs and unable to find another job for months and years. I don’t want such faith for my 3 sons and I don’t agree with this idiot Tom Brokaw, who says that our young men should go to China and Middle East looking for jobs.

With all that being said and done, there is a way of  stimulating the economy, by reducing tariffs on some products, essential for manufacturing, there is a way of allowing free trade with developed countries like Canada or Western European countries, but not flooding U.S. markets with cheap junk from the Pacific Rim third World countries with de facto slave labor and depleting the U.S. of millions of jobs.

A number of my supporters have urged me to run for U.S. senate and one campaign manager called me yesterday saying that he would be honored to be my campaign manager. If I decide to run for U.S. senate against Diane Feinstein, than bringing American jobs back to America and repealing and replacing WTO will be the center piece of my campaign. Cleaning elections fraud and black box voting will be the second part of my campaign.

If you want to help me push those issues, call me at 949-683-5411 or e-mail at orly.taitz@gmail.com

What can states do to protect themselves from cheap junk from China and keep jobs? If a state can have a liquor tax, it can have taxation on other products as well
