Secretary of Education
The president-elect will meet with Michelle Rhee and Betsy Devos in New Jersey on Saturday, according to Trump transition team spokesman Jason Miller. Both women are reportedly being considered.
Rhee is well-known in Washington after serving three years as D.C. schools chancellor from 2007 to 2010. A Democrat, Rhee had previously come under fire for her support of charter schools and Common Core. During his campaign, Trump repeatedly promised to do away with Common Core standards.
Devos is a former chairwoman of the Michigan Republican Party and a GOP super-donor.
Some conservatives have advocated leaving the Education secretary post open so Trump can do away with the position and the department entirely.
