Maybe, we should pause with taking down of statues of General Robert Lee, as removal of statues precipitates protests, which end with violence on both sides

Posted on | August 12, 2017 | 31 Comments

Let me start by saying that I condemn all violence on both sides. I condemn the driver who plowed in the crowd of people. If this driver is not clinically insane and did it intentionally, he should get the strongest punishment, maybe death penalty, if the jurisdiction allows for it. I condemn NAZIsm and racism. With that being said, here is my question: should the city counsels continue taking down statues of historical figures, which precipitates protests and ends with violence on both sides?

Today’s violent clashes started with the announced plans for removal of a statue of General Robert Lee in Charlottesville, Virginia. It is true that Lee was a general in the Confederate army, however he was also an American hero who won battles in Mexican-American war and was the superintendent in the US military academy.

My question is: will we end up taking down the statues of George Washington as well? After all, our first president, who was instrumental in creating this great nation, was a slave owner, as many were in those days. Will we rename the Washington state and Washington DC?

Maybe, we should stop taking down the statues, which causes protests, which end in violence from both sides, from white lives matter and counter protests from black lives matter? After all, we ended slavery, we condemn slavery and we have equality today. However, two hundred years ago slavery existed and we celebrate George Washington not because he was a slave owner, but because he was our first president, who fought to create this nation. We celebrate General Lee not because he was a slave owner, but because he was a brave general who was instrumental in our win in the Mexican-American war.

Maybe, instead of taking down statues of historical figures, our city counsels should concentrate on helping people today, such as building low income housing, building schools and hospitals, providing professional training for unemployed, creating preschools for low income, filling potholes in the roads, repaving streets and fixing city lights. I think that the city counsels, such as as the counsel of Charlottesville and other cities  should take care of the residents and their needs instead of taking down the statues.

What do you think?

Last February they also voted to change the name of the park from Lee Park to Emancipation Park!

They’re trying to erase history all over America.

They’ve recently voted to change the names of two streets in Phoenix that referenced the Civil War.

I agree wholeheartedly Orly. Who ordered the removal of the statue? I suspect it was the same old liberal Shadow Government again using racial political unrest to overturn the last election. The liberals have backed themselves into a corner.

I have to disagree. There is one big difference between Confederate monuments and others. George Washington may have owned slaves, but he didn’t fight a war that nearly destroyed the United States in order to preserve slavery. Is it possible that slavery could have been ended without a war? Perhaps, but we will never really know and if you read the arguments for Secession from EVERY state of the Confederacy, it is absolutely clear that “States Rights” was a way of trying to avoid saying “slavery.” And with the history of segregation and Jim Crowe, it is clear that those monuments were a not very subtle rejection of everything the Civil War was fought to achieve. I do believe that the Confederate cemeteries are hallowed ground just like any cemetery, but monuments to those who lead a movement meant to destroy the nation should never have gone up to begin with.

Ummm… the statue at the center of the Virginia unpleasantness depicts Lee in his CAF uniform and not the one he wore in Mexico.

After watching 2 years of mayhem at Trump rallies always initiated by the soros paid thugs while the cops stood down, people have had it. We can thank Nikki Haley for starting this madness of trying to destroy our history in July 2015 by removing our Confederate flag. Now this. The crazy left has even proposed exhuming bodies of Confederate soldiers. This is insane. Soros/obama/clintons/globalists need to just leave Americans alone. Enough!

The south hated the north because of their insane thought process. Had nothing to do with slavery. You had a crazy mental looking old guy for president that would not listen to his advisers and ended up with 700,000 dead. South wanted to stay a sane country. Unfortunately we know what happened.

It’s racial politics. No country in history has treated minorities as well as this predominantly white nation. A majority white population voted special rights for minorities to make sure they were treated fairly. That majority as narrowed considerably and look was is happening. Minorities now control large portions of the country and the more special rights handed out the worse it gets. The trouble is corrupt politics not skin color.

W.Churchill was wright that the future fascist will call themselves “antifascist”. Changing history, burn/remove monuments, censorship, burn books etc are fascism aka progressivism.
Changing gender of kids, propagandizing all type of perverted life style are the satanic crime against humanity.

I do not agree with the appeasing tone of this letter. Moreover, the letter misses the real goal of the globalists and NWO fanning this racial conflict now:

    – It’s NOT about the old racism as under-treatment of people of color; And…

    – It’s NOT about a demand about even MORE over-treatment of the minorities and MORE bending back before them in a paroxysms of the “white guilt”;

    – It’s ABOUT the NWO’s DENIAL OF OUR NATIONAL IDENTITY as a Judeo-Christian nation speaking English of people of European descent, i.e. denial that we are predominantly WHITE nation! The NWO scum claims (like in Canada) as though we are NOT PARTICULAR RACE AND ETHNICITY AND FAITH NATION! As though we were anything in the world nation (like Canada). Damn NO! They promote the REPLACEMENT MIGRATION! And we must roar…

YOU WILL NOT REPLACE US! WE (THE WHITES) WERE AND ARE GOING TO REMAIN A MAJORITY HERE! NOT ONLY DO WHITE LIVES MATTER, BUT WE WILL TAKE CARE THAT OUR NATION ALWAYS REMAIN AS IT WAS FOUNDED – WHITE!

Not “may be”, but we MUST stop taking down the statues of Gen. Robert Lee. Those which are uncomfortable with them are free to leave for good elsewhere to be majority there and enjoy different statutes. See https://judeochristianamerica.org/UflandAboutBlacksIn1958.htm

Rich, you are right that minorities have done well here, but that didn’t happen without terrible struggles (and that’s not just for the blacks, but also the Irish, the Chinese, Latinos…) and there have always been people who want to take their rights away again. What you are saying is pretty much what the “good” German’s said about the Jews in the 1930s. ” I’m not antiseptic, but look what has happened ever since we allowed the Jews into politics and finance…” My father was born in Germany in 1924. When I was a child, he took part in the big Civil Rights marches. My mother, who was born here, didn’t want him to go but he always said “it’s not enough to disagree with racism, you have to take a stand.” Let’s not lie to ourselves. Racism is alive and well and it’s not just a black/white thing.

It shows ignorance, it shows bigotry. “If you don’t like what the article depicts, tear it down and destroy it” History is distorted enough by human input, leave it alone!. What would have happened if the Ancients had totally obliterated places like Gobekli tepe and Pumapunku ? Obama did far to much of this with public record obfuscation, destroying the real record in favor of what you would like to have happened! It is wrong.

These statutes have not bothered anyone for over a hundred years. They are just stone standing there. Troublemakers are now using them as an excuse to riot and cause unrest. Removing them will not change history. Obviously removing them just causes violence?!!? The Civil War was not about slavery as we are tried to make believe in order to create havoc! The war was about States rights. You just can’t fix stupid!
I’m sure the MSM will let us all know the next time a stone statue attacks a person?!!?!?

IMO, the statues should be preserved as is as a

part of US history. Whether of stone, metal,

iron, copper, ceramic, etc., they should all

be preserved and given additional name plates,

and historical curation. If legally removed by

act or plebiscite, the monuments should be

moved to a local museum, cemetery, churchyard,

or private municipal space, or farm, or arcade

center. They should NOT be destroyed. It is

purely fascism to re-write and suppress and

deny our American history–both tragic and

affirmative, or even neutral. Let us try to

get beyond this sad introspective period. Let

us guard against racial hysteria and total

    revisionism. IMO. Warn em, Danno!!!

No more removal of any flags, statues or any other symbols of our history. Should we tear down the 9-11 memorial because it offends muslims? Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. After the Civil War the North abused the South. There was more hate rage and anger in the South than ever and Robert E Lee went all over the South encouraging forgiveness and he single handedly broke the back of all the hate for good. That is what truly reunited us as one country was his tour of peace which went on for years. Why did no one here mention this? If you don’t know our history then don’t post your opinions here or anywhere else. Your ignorance is showing and you can’t fix stupid.

Remove all reminders of the Confederacy…buildings, statues, schools, streets, signs, books, etc., etc. After all is said and done when someone plays the slavery card we can say there’s no evidence of slavery.

The statue removal was a part of the well planned arsenal of catalysts designed to disorganize the Trump initiatives aimed at restoring Our Nation. Turn to any web service or media outlet and scroll down for a list of each item on the list of chaos that liberals are creating on a daily basis. Whatever normal people need to do to survive is under attack and being frantically replaced or diverted into the liberal insanity. The media creates a mine field of AD’s, sexual content, and more political advice for you to plow through. They control your mouse to make sure that you can’t miss it and divert you in order to force their selfish motives on you as well.

Let us also ask the US Archives take photos

and pix of all the statues and monuments and

print booklets on same, in color, etc. For

sale and distribution. Others should make

copies as toys for children, as gifts in

For the truth about the riots caused by Antifa and the mayor or Charlotsville go to websites Stefan Moleneau and info wars. Millie Weaver was at the rally and gave a first hand account of Antifa pelting the rally attendees with bags of human excrement and urine filled baloons. Her assistant was pepper sprayed in the face and she was sprayed on the arm. When asked for police protection they refused. The police were ordered to stand down and would not provide protection for those in the freedom rally who wanted to exercise their freedom to speech. it was the same at the inauguration and at Berkeley. The whole incident was perpetrated by the enemies of the people. Antifa and BLM are the brown shoes kkk of the democrat party and are terrorist entities used to stifle our first amendment rights and terorize the American people.

If the north was so much against slavery they should’ve prohibit any ships with slaves entry, but, money talks and bulls*** walks.
