האמריקאי בשל עריכות סאטיריות

באתר חסמו כתובת IP של הקונגרס אחרי שמשתמש בה הגדיר את דונלד רמספלד כחייזר מכשף והאשים את קובה בזיוף הנחיתה על הירח

ויקיפדיה חסמה כתובת IP בתוך הקונגרס האמריקאי מביצוע עריכות באנציקלופדיה המקוונת. החסימה של הכתובת בוצעה אחרי שמחשב בקונגרס שימש לביצוע עריכות סאטיריות רבות באנציקלופריה המקוונת – או במילים אחרות טרולינג.

העריכות התגלו בזכות תוכנה שעוקבת אחרי עריכות ויקיפדיה שנעשות ממחשבים בקונגרס. מדובר בתוכנה (בוט) שמעלה באופן אוטומטי דיווח על עריכות לוויקיפדיה שבוצעו מתוך מחשבי הקונגרס האמריקאי. תוכנה דומה, שהתבססה על הקוד של הבוט של הקונגרס, הצליחה לחשוף כי גורם בתחנת חדשות רשמית ברוסיה ביצע עריכות הנוגעות להתרסקות מטוס הנוסעים באוקראינה החודש.

המשתמש או המשתמשים במחשב שינו בין היתר את הערך העוסק באנשי לטאה (Reptilians), שמככבים בתיאוריות קונספירציה רבות בשוליים הסהרוריים של הרשת, או בפארודיות עליהם. בין היתר טוענים שהם שולטים בממשלות העולם, כולל בממשל האמריקאי.

במקרה הזה העריכה דווקא נראית הגיונית: המשתמש הוסיף לערך את השורה “ההאשמות הללו אינן מבוססות ואין להן שום אחיזה במציאות”. אבל בעריכות נוספות הוא האשים את קובה בזיוף הנחיתה על הירח ואת דונלד רמספלד בכך שהוא חייזר מכשף.

בעקבות הוטלה הוחלט להטיל על המחשב חסימה זמנית ל-10 ימים בשל “עריכות שגורמות נזק”. לא מדובר בחסימה גורפת על הקונגרס, ומשתמשים שיזדהו בשם משתמש יוכלו להמשיך לערוך גם מהמחשב הזה.
