GOP will repeal Obamacare next year after it gets a new senator in AZ and NJ
By Dr. Orly Taitz, ESQ
People tend to think that after September 30 GOP will not be able to repeal Obamacare with 51 votes. This is not the case. Current rules allow only one major reconciliation bill to pass with 51 votes simple majority per fiscal year. This fiscal year ends September 30. Republicans plan to pass Tax reform the next fiscal year, between October 1st 2017 till September 30 2018. However, GOP can repeal Obamacare with 51 votes on October 1st 2018 or any time later, still before the midterm elections. Additionally, GOP can pass a rule change with a simple majority, which will allow more than one major reconciliation bill with simple majority and no filibuster. Remember, previously Democrats past a rule change that did away with filibuster and allowed a simple 51 vote majority for every confirmation vote aside from the Supreme Court. Republicans further changed the rules and extended no filibuster to the Supreme Court appointments. Republicans are likely to change the rules in order to pass Obamacare repeal, particularly, since they are so close.
Republicans passed Obamacare repeal in the House and were only 1 vote short in the senate in July on “skinny repeal”. They will be able to gain this one vote and possibly two next year.
- Currently, senator Menendez, Democrat from New Jersey, is being tried on public corruption charges. He is likely to be convicted and resign after the conviction. Republican governor of NJ, Chris Christy, will appoint a Republican and that will give Republicans 1 additional vote they need for repeal.
- John McCain was diagnosed in the beginning of July with glioblastoma, aggressive brain cancer. Life expectancy with Glioblastoma is 1 year. For elderly patients, like 81 year old McCain, it is less than a year. McCain is expected to resign or pass away within a few months, by the next July. At that time Republican governor of AZ, Doug Ducey, is expected to appoint his replacement, likely State Senator, Dr. Kelly Ward, who announced that she would vote for skinny repeal. So, within a few months, Republicans are expected to gain two more votes and repeal Obamacare.

Here’s what I’m afraid of. With Bannon and Gorka gone and with the RINOs and globalist surrounding Trump, will he go back to Schumer and Pelodi and make a healthcare deal with them?

no, he can’t and will not make a deal with them. He is concentrating on tax reform now. In a few months, when McCain resigns and Menendez is replaced with a Republican, they will pass the “skinny repeal” with 51 votes
