A message to all members of Tea Party Nation
An urgent message from Tea Party Nation Founder Judson Phillips:
 
There is a win-win scenario for the debt-ceiling crisis.  It will avoid a default and reduce our debt at the same time.    This is a plan where America can win and we can start putting our economic house in order.
 
Most of you know, I am not Ron Paul’s biggest fan.  I intensely dislike his foreign policies and have stated he should never be anywhere near the Oval Office.  However, when it comes to monetary policy, there is no one in Congress who is more knowledgeable than Ron Paul. He has an idea that I had heard just a bit about a few days ago.   I finally got a good explanation of it and it makes sense.  It beats all the other ideas out there and it is a path for a Tea Party victory.
 
The Federal Reserve holds between $1.6 and $1.7 trillion of our debt.    This is thanks to the Fed’s quantitative easing program, where the Fed itself has bought Treasury notes.    Even though the Fed has bought these Treasury notes, they are still considered to be a part of our debt.  I am probably over simplifying it here when I say this is money we basically owe ourselves.
 
Ron Paul has one very simple solution.  Tear the debt up!
 
There is no reason, according to Ron Paul, why the Federal Reserve cannot simply burn those Treasury notes.   Basically, by “burning” or more likely just by a few keystrokes with a computer, the debt ceases to exist.
 
Suddenly our National Debt drops by nearly $1.7 trillion.  Suddenly, we have no debt crisis any more.   The only downside is it will allow Congress to borrow and spend more money but that is next week’s fight, not today’s fight.
 
We need action on this today.  It is the simple solution that works.
 
From what I have read this morning, I cannot tell if Ron Paul has actually offered this as a bill.  As of the time I am writing this, his offices are not open so I cannot reach anyone to ask.
 
This morning, as soon as his offices open, start calling Ron Paul’s offices.  His Washington office is 202-225-2831.    His district offices are 979-285-0231 and 361-576-1231.  If Ron Paul has not introduced this plan as a bill in Congress yet, ask his office that he do it ASAP. Second, call your Congressman.  John Boehner was not able to get his plan to vote yesterday because he did not have the votes.  Most GOP Congressmen do not want to vote for the Boehner plan because, not only is it a very bad bill, it will die immediately in the Senate.
 
If Ron Paul will introduce his plan, it should get immediate and widespread attention and support.  It is a painless way to avoid default.  It should be very popular in Congress.
 
We need to get the word out and get people calling.  Ordinarily, in the mornings when we put a blog out, we just put a couple of paragraphs out and have you go to our website to read the entire article.  This is too important.
 
Please forward this email to everyone on your email list and your Tea Party, liberty, or Republican groups.    Ask people to act immediately.
 
I was on a talk show yesterday with a liberal Democrat who accused me of wanting the country to default so Obama could be blamed.  No, I don’t want the country to default.  This will prevent a default and not grow the debt.
 
This is the path to a Tea Party victory today.  Call, email, fax, tweet and do what ever you have to do to communicate with your Congressman.
 
Take immediate action! Let’s win one for America today!
