READ THE LIST: The 15 Republicans who helped Senate advance immigration amendment…
The Senate voted to end debate on the amendment that contains the border security compromise authored by Republican Sens. Bob Corker of Tennessee and John Hoeven of North Dakota. The amendment is seen as a compromise palatable to both Republicans and Democrats that will help get the necessary number of votes to pass the immigration bill authored by the bipartisan Gang of Eight: Sens. John McCain, Chuck Schumer, Michael Bennet, Jeff Flake, Bob Menendez, Marco Rubio, Dick Durbin, and Lindsey Graham.
Fifteen Republicans voted in favor of cloture. The vote count was 67-26, four votes shy of the 70 votes that proponents of the bill like Sen. Lindsey Graham have said they want on the final bill in order to give it momentum heading to the House.
Several senators were not present due to air travel. Monday is the day when many senators fly from their home states back to Washington. Republican Sens. Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson of Georgia were not present, and neither were Democratic Sens. Sherrod Brown of Ohio and Mark Udall of Colorado.
Republican Sens. Ted Cruz, Jeff Sessions, David Vitter, Jim Inhofe and Mike Lee spent the day vehemently opposing the planned vote, protesting that, among other problems with the bill, the language of the amendment had not been filed until Friday evening, and that senators had not had sufficient time to read it.
The amendment requires that “registered provisional immigrants” are not eligible to receive green cards until at least 10 years after the bill is put into effect, and until the Homeland Security secretary has certified that an additional 20,000 Border Patrol agents have been deployed along the border, at least 700 miles of fencing has been completed, and several new technologies have been put into effect. Just read an article where the idiot who thinks she smart..wrote a minority opinion..In my opinion these flagrant justitutes are so sick they no longer can spell common sense…
Elena..if someone comes to you and says before you step in your house you must pay a fee and then on top of that fix the sewer line for the water company.. Not a shakedown to the “forth graders”…
The liberal wing of the court dissented in the 5-4 decision, with Justice Elena Kagan writing for the minority that the denial by the government of permission for a landowner to use his land takes “nothing.”
She described the majority opinion as “unwise” and denied that the water district demanded “anything in exchange for a permit.”
“No property changed hands … Koontz therefore cannot claim just compensation under the Fifth Amendment,” she claimed.
Further, she wrote: “The district never made a demand or set a condition – not to cede an identifiable property interest, not to undertake a particular mitigation project, not even to write a check to the government. Instead, the district suggested to Koontz several non-exclusive ways to make his application conform to state law.”

MOSCOW (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin bluntly rejected U.S. pleas to turn over National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden on Tuesday, saying he is free to travel wherever he wants and insisting that Russian security agencies haven’t contacted him.
Snowden is in the transit zone of a Moscow airport and has not passed through Russian immigration, Putin said, meaning he is not technically in Russia.
