Hello Orly:
Wild West Domain (presumably GoDaddy) has seized Cookie’s Domain Shop’s dealership, citing SPAM, with respect to setting up your email, which they apparently didn’t send much of. It that it would be a profitable move for them, they’ve likely seized all of our customer accounts as well.
They’ve been informed the mailing list was an opt-in list provided by the Secretary of State and was being used for the intended purpose. Nonetheless, we have lost the ability to change products and pricing (which is I’m sure why they seized our account). We won’t be able to contact dealer support until Monday to see if they intend to keep the franchise fees and leave us without a business.
Our domains remain intact, as are yours, and we still have control over them, as do you. If they go beyond seizing the dealership to seizing our domains we can initiate a dispute at ICANN, much as I described to you but, as you’ve seen, it would be a costly process.
I’m going to wait until Monday, talk to Cookie, ask Wild West Domains to elaborate on what they’ve done and intend to do, in writing, which will probably be pointless, since the mail delivery and Postmaster in Yucca Valley refuse to deliver the mail. We’ll have to get a P.O. box….
Since they have as a provision in all of their agreement that they can essentially change the rules at any time without notice, it’s unlikely we’ll have much recourse, except to take the financial beating.
Clearly, something political is going on here.
