    The ip is a tor exit node in Berlin. Tor is proxy-chaining software that typically bounces the connection through three servers around the world. In short, there is no practical way (even for the federal government) to trace the origin, short of getting the operator of the exit node to cooperate, and working your way back through the chain (with cooperation each step). For the future, you could blacklist people using tor from commenting or visiting your site, but some supporters of your cause may use tor to avoid scrutiny from the government. In fact, I’m using it right now.

And as we’ve all seen from these mentally deranged morons time and time again, they are incapable of even do that effectively.

    Orly, these people are going through proxies again. One is from Germany.
    They’re obviously cowards and feel the need to hide behind their threats. But gmail can be traced and since they are actually threatening your life, you really need to call the police. They can get isp records from Gmail.
    I wouldn’t screw around with them anymore. Let the cops handle it.

    Hmm… I did perhaps neglect to mention one detail, “Recovering Birther”. If someone not too smart or informed simply downloads Tor and doesn’t know how to properly set it up and lock it down, they inherently leak some critical data that can be enough to give their true origin away to people with subpoenas.

    It occurs to me, and perhaps it should now to you, that you seem to be neither smart nor informed…

    gmail can’t be traced to someone if they were good about using a proxy chain when they created and access the account. I know it is frustrating to hear at times, but there really are ways to be untraceable. If they didn’t use proxies, then yes, google has the real ip, but then that still has to be looked up with the internet service provider.
