This is the kind of Judge America needs in its courts
across the country from sea to shining sea! Especially
in the Supreme Court. He is needed in the Birth Certificate
matter, a legal issue which must be settled!

This is old but read the Judges comments and apply his
statements to today’s crisis.

    Hi all, this is not really related to this article….but please go sign this petition to investigate ACORN. We’ve got to get this organization (which consists of about 300 different sub-organizations) stoppped. Even the original founders don’t want taxpayer money going to ACORN anymore either, because of there is so much FRAUD.

    Sounds like any judge who wants to make a statement and is up for re-election.
    I DID hear this all before and in fact know that Reid is now residing in Colorado’s Supermax prison.
    This wasn’t a hidden story.
    Simply nothing went boom.
    There was no destruction and no lives lost.
    Not what the news really prefers to grab attention.

    Regardless, this judge does sound like he has some backbone.
    Which provides all the more reason he wouldn’t be interested in birther issues.

    Orly or local supporters should at least try and contact him. He more than likely would listen to Orly more than anyone else but her time is so limited. He sounds like my kind of judge though…standing up for America and FREEDOM!

    All I could think of when I read what the Judge had to say is Freedom isn’t Free and justice delayed is justice denied. Since the Judge quoted President Kennedy it reminded me of : “The rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God ….
    Who knew that we would be in the same boat as the people of Iran, obviously they don’t trust their government either. I personally think that country is headed for all out revolt. We in America are trusting that in the end our courts will do the honorable and correct thing, by correcting a great injustice. He may lie, avoid and dance around it but in no way is Obama qualified to be an American president. He never has fulfilled the Constitutional requirements and he never will, that ship sailed on the day he was born.     I can’t see how you arrived at that.
    What part of “he wouldn’t be interested in birther issues” don’t you get?
    I believe tough judgments can go either way.
    There’s no indication this one is sympathetic to birther issues.
    He’s simply being quoted in one decision and he makes his point well.

    Regardless, it isn’t like one can pick and choose judges to hear their cases. Cases get assigned and there’s no guarantee a certain judge will hear your particular case.

    Federal judges are not elected, they are appointed. Judge Young is a Reagan appointee.

    The crux of his almost 200-page opinion in this case was a challenge to the federal sentencing guidelines, which he felt needed to be revamped.

    Judge William G. Young is a United States District Judge for the District of Massachusetts. He has served the public for almost all of his professional life, starting with his time in the United States Army where he served as a Captain from 1962 until 1964. He attended Harvard College and Harvard Law School.

    He has worked in the legal field since 1967, and he was a Massachusetts Superior Court Judge before being appointed to the federal judiciary by President Reagan in 1985.[1]

    I will only say (and this may go against the grain for you) the way to get what you want at any courthouse is to smooze the filing clerks.

    Do you think it was an accident that he got assigned the Reid case? Doubtful. It was assigned to him because it was known no one was tougher on crime/sentencing than he is.

    I practice in Massachusetts, and so I know a little something about the courts here. While I have never personally appeared before Judge Young, I think I can safely state that he will not return your call, like all federal judges he will have his courtroom clerk return the call to determine what the subject of the call is about. Judges do it this way to avoid inadvertent ex parte contact.

    If it is not about a case assigned to him, the courtroom clerk is not going to give you access to Judge Young. You need to bring an action that gets assigned to him.

    Federal judges are not elected. They are appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate. Their appointment is a lifetime one, so that they can exercise judicial independence without fear of removal by the electorate or the President for political reasons. Honestly, this is Civics 101, you should do your homework before posting flatly erroneous statements.

    Julie, can you be an attorney with me on the case. I am not licensed in MA, I am in CA, but I have plaintiffs in MA. Also, the logistics is hard. My cousin used to be a prof at MIT, I could stay there, but now he is at John Hopkins and it might be expensive for me to bring an action in MA and pay all the expenses for travel and hotels.

    What kind of action would you expect to bring in Massachusetts? You are already pursuing litigation elsewhere, so I’m not certain what more can be attained by bringing yet another action.

    I ask because my firm requires me to submit proposed representation to a client intake committee, and I would have to rationalize the representation, especially if you expect it to be pro bono. We would need to determine whether the E&Os would cover it. Also, we would need a written retention agreement with each plaintiff.
