May I suggest filibuster?

Getting Republicans together on any issue can be difficult at best.  Getting all 47 Republicans in the Senate to agree on something is approaching a miracle.  All 47 have said they will vote against the debt ceiling unless the Democrats do something important on the budget.

Something important is not defined, but we can only hope they mean something along the lines of cutting $105 billion from the budget for Obamacare. 

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell deliberately distanced himself from Speaker John Boehner by not being willing to predict what the House would do when it votes on raising the debt ceiling.  Boehner has said not raising the debt ceiling will send the economy into a tailspin. 

Memo to John Boehner.  Continuing massive deficits and debt are going to send the economy into much worse than a “tailspin.”

For a bright and shining moment, the Republicans in the Senate seem to get it.  We cannot keep spending money we do not have.  We have to make serious spending cuts and that has to happen yesterday.    When even the RINOs get this, it is a red-letter day.

The Democrats have already given indication they do not care.  Dick Durban (Socialist-IL) has said they do not want to make any budget cuts, want to raise the debt ceiling and continue with business as usual.   Durban said yesterday that the GOP plan would “damage the economy” and “it goes in a direction that is not good for this country.”  Read that, it hurts the Democrats, since the Democrats are always more concerned about their party than they are about the country.

All 47 votes from the GOP will not stop the debt ceiling from being raised.  But 47 votes are enough to make sure a filibuster will hold.

May I suggest that is the exact thing the GOP should be doing?  Filibuster the debt ceiling and EVERYTHING else in the Senate until the Democrats agree to serious debt reduction. 

Not only will the Senate be considering the debt ceiling legislation soon, they will also have to consider the continuing resolution to keep the government running.  This is the resolution we have been talking about on Tea Party Nation.  Michele Bachmann and Steve King have been leading the fight against the CR as long as it does not defund $105 billion from Obamacare and does not defund Planned Parenthood.  As Congressman Bachmann said, “This is not negotiable.”

The House of Representatives will take up the continuing resolution sometime today.  Today is the day we need to call, fax, email and tweet to our Congressmen and to Speaker Boehner and Majority Leader Cantor.  Do not pass a continuing resolution that does not include legislation defunding Obamacare and Planned Parenthood.   We should remind them, for us, this is not negotiable. 

Michael Reagan wrote an editorial a few days ago, where he talked about sharing the stage with Mikhail Gorbachev.  They talked about how Ronald Reagan launched an economic war against the Soviet Union and the USSR imploded.  Reagan then noted, Obama and company are doing the same thing to America and if they are not stopped, it is only a question of when, not if, the American economy implodes, just like the Soviet economy did.

We must not let that happen.  Call, fax, email and tweet to your congressman and to Speaker Boehner today.  We can stop this, if we act!

   But Bachman takes Obark at his word that he’s a Christian and a citizen! And Bachman refuses to demand judiciary hearings!

   How can we trust her on this $105B thing?

   Thank God that the economic policies of our great President have ended the recession, begun to undo the damage that the Bush-Cheney cabal inflicted as they looted and pillaged our economy, and created 6 consecutive quarters of growth.

   I can’t take this idiocy any more. Do you really believe that incurring 1.7 trillion dollars worth of debt every year is a great policy? This is a complete destruction of US economy and US currency

   Where were yuo and your phony outrage when the Bush administration was running not one but two wars off the books?
   Any real economist knows that you can’t solve a recession with austerity. Even a hateful lunatic like Henry Ford understood that the economy is driven by consumer purchases. The stimulus program worked, and it worked well. If the Tea Party and its corporate owners had their way, we’d all be selling apples on the streetcorner.
   As I’ve often suggested to you, Orly, you really need to read up on the circumstances that lead to the Great Depression, and the brilliant plans the FDR administration put in place to pull America out of it. There are lessons to be learned from history, if you do your own homework.

   john, right now the world is in crisis. Yes, thats right! Radiation from Japan is already hitting the coast of Alaska, the middle east is about ready to explode, and what is O-bunghole doing? Why he’s brushing up on his golf game. not only that, but Barky was recently in Miami to attend a fund raiser with Gloria Estefan and shut down all business around the airport for 30 miles. You O-Bunghole Trolls are a bunch of Freaking Hypocrites.
