Congressman Peter King, who has been skewered on TPN before, is planning Congressional hearings on the threats of Islamic terrorism.   The left has gone apoplectic.   Anytime the word “McCarthyism” is invoked against anything conservatives do, you can be assured, it is probably a pretty good idea.

Congressman King wants to look at the threat of Islamic terror.    Perhaps we should do a review of recent history:

In 1996, an Islamic terrorist blew himself up at the Khobar towers in Saudi Arabia. 19 Americans were killed.  In 1998, two American embassies were bombed in Africa.  Hundreds were killed.  9/11.  Islamic terrorists killed thousands of Americans.  7/7/05 the “7/7” attacks in London.  52 killed.  The Madrid bombing of 2004 that killed 192 people.  Nidal Hassan’s attack on soldiers at Ft. Hood, which killed 13. 

This is only a partial list and does not even take into account events like the shoe bomber and the underwear bomber who were not successful.

Islamic groups such as Al-Qaeda have repeatedly expressed a desire to obtain weapons of mass destruction, such as nukes, to use against America. 

Holding hearings on this threat is a pretty good idea.  Especially since the Obama regime is totally ignoring the threat.

The left and Islamic groups have gone totally nuts.  Nancy Pelosi, who still has not gotten over losing her Air Force party plane, complained, “Muslims contribute to every aspect of our nation’s economy and society.”  She went on to whine, “The hearings planned by Chairman King, however, are inconsistent with this vision of America. Singling out a group of Americans for government scrutiny based on their faith is divisive and wrong.”

A group of Muslims and liberals also attacked Congressman King’s hearings.  In a letter to him, this group, which consisted of the terrorist loving Counsel on American Islamic Relations, the George Soros Open Society Institute and others said “If Chairman King wishes to address violent extremism, then we hope you will ensure that he examines violence motivated by extremist beliefs, in all its forms, in a full, fair and objective way” 

That is of course a typical liberal thinking.  Oh, you cannot take a look at this problem that makes liberals look bad, without looking at all other problems and denouncing them too.

Perhaps a little review of history might help the liberals.   No, it won’t help the liberals but a review of history is always good.  When Senator Joseph McCarthy was in office, it was the middle of the Cold War.  Communism was spreading across the globe and was a very real threat to America.  McCarthy was alarmed to discover that people with communist sympathies were in sensitive positions in the government.  McCarthy’s hearings were used to expose this.  McCarthy had one simple idea.  If you are going to work in a sensitive position for the government, you should be loyal to America.   It is a pity that rule is not in effect today.  If it were, Obama and his entire regime would be gone.

Peter King wants to have hearings on Islamic terrorism and the threats it poses.   The hearings are not on the virtues or lack there of, of Islam, nor are they being used to suggest the repression of Islam. 

We are always told Muslims are loyal to America.  We are told that Muslims are no different than Baptists or Catholics.   As with all claims liberals make, some supporting facts would be nice.

If American Muslims really support America and really oppose Islamic terrorism, they should be the first ones at this hearing denouncing terrorism and naming names.

If American Muslims are unwilling to do this, then it speaks volumes and it also destroys the myth of patriotic American Muslims.
