Orly, in the coming new year, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union address occur on the same day. As an insightful commentator points out: “It is an ironic juxaposition of events: One involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to an insignificant creature of little intelligence for prognostication…while the other involves a groundhog.”

    And there is even MORE SYMBOLIC meaning:

    Ground Hog Day is really a folk observance of the PURIFICATION OF MARY/PRESENTATION in the TEMPLE of JESUS…it is referred to as CANDLEMAS or the Mass of Mary’s Light (id est Jesus)…

    The implication is that of LIGHT BEING SHONE on that which was dark and veiled, which then suddenly becomes obvious and illuminated.

    By the way, an interesting note also regarding Simeon, who, the Bible says, was greatly advanced in years!

    He was a translator of Hebrew and Greek texts in the Library of Alexandria and had been told to NOT TRANSLATE the passages in Isaiah about the Messiah coming.

    By obscuring facts, certain powers thought they would avoid undue scrutiny by the Greeks.

    An angel appeared to him and said,” DO NOT CHANGE what GOD HIMSELF has written, and YOU will live to see the MESSIAH.”

    Simeon did not HIDE DOCUMENTS and was rewarded by God, quite in CONTRAST to OBAMA.

    Thank you, Veritas. That is a really wonderful story. I’ve always loved reading about Simeon the Righteous in the Bible and it’s nice to learn his backstory.
