    As I understand it, the mayor was taken to court because he refused to allow this alt-right rally and the federal judge said that the mayor was hostile to the rally because of its content. So, when they came to the park, the police blocked them in while Antifa and BLM attacked them. It appears the mayor ambushed them at the rally. Here is an eyewitness report. McCauliffe came out later blaming only the alt right group which exposes his possible collusion in the attack.
