Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump tweeted out on Friday about his surge in recent polls, but faces more backlash from the comments he made about Mexican immigrants.

Republican firebrand Donald Trump is crowing about his success in presidential polls — but condemnation of his comments about Mexican immigrants is growing.

“Wow, Huffington Post just stated that I am number 1 in the polls of Republican candidates,” Trump tweeted Friday morning.

“Thank you, but the work has just begun!”

Trump was touting his first-place finish in an average of 105 opinion polls tracked by the news outlet: He came in with an average of 13.6% support to former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush’s 13.3%.

While Trump has gained traction, Latino advocacy groups and even some of his fellow GOP candidates have assailed him for saying Mexico is sending “rapists” and drug dealers across the U.S. border.

After a prolonged silence, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio — the son of Cuban immigrants — on Thursday called Trump’s comments “not just offensive and inaccurate, but also divisive.

“Our next President needs to be someone who brings Americans together — not someone who continues to divide,” Rubio said.

But another senator, Ted Cruz of Texas, stuck up for Trump and accused NBC Universal of folding to the forces of political correctness by breaking business ties with its former reality-show star.

Trump came in with an average of 13.6% support in opinion polls, which leads all GOP candidates.

Other candidates have yet to comment on Trump’s remarks — which he has staunchly refused to disavow — although Bush, whose wife was born in Mexico, has called them “wrong,” and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry has said Trump’s comments don’t reflect the GOP.

Krauthammer says Trump’s comments were “outrageous.”

“It’s hurting the brand” (ie Republican Party).

Is Charles in tune with what REALLY is on Americans’ minds?

I have not noticed that Fiorina was/is Bush in a skirt. I will take a closer look with hopes she is not. These days everything is circumspect.

she sent thousands of HP jobs to cheap labor in China and India. This was the reason why Boxer beat her here, in CA, when Fiorina tried to replace Boxer as Dem senator . She did not stand up against illegal immigration and TPP, as Trump did, she is a RINO, similar to Bush, Rubio, Christie, Romney. They are all smooth talkers, but they promote the same globalist policies, which bankrupted this nation

    TRUMP for TRUTH in 2016!

Communist residents (Sodomy Soetoro-Obama et al), Communist Democrats (Treason Queen Pelosi et al) and RINO Democrats (= Traitor Boehner, Mitt “The Sell-out” Romney, Pretty Boy Rubio, Baby Bush et al), when compared to blunt Trump for Truth in 2016, will make these communists look like the lying, two-faced, self-serving, quisling artful dodgers they really are.

I think all Trump has to do is what the cowards at the GOP (= “Given-up On Principles” led by Rience Preibus and Karl Marx Rove) simply refuse to do: TELL THE TRUTH TO THE AMERICAN CITIZENS!

A Trump for Truth slogan might be:

ARE YOU A communist american OR A CONSTITUTIONAL AMERICAN?
